First pistol reloading experiment. (9mm)

heres the required standard
CAUTION: HOT LOAD, MAY NOT BE SUITABLE IN YOUR PISTOL. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THIS LOAD, IT WAS SHOWING SIGNS OF HIGH PRESSURE IN MY PISTOL. I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY SAFETY NOT YOURS, SO IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH EXPERIMENTING DONT USE THIS LOAD. I AM AT NO WAY IN FAULT IF YOU DONT LISTEN TO MY WARNINGS AND HURT YOURSELF.

Ok, now for the data.

I used once fired winchester 9mm cases, CCI 500 small pistol primers 8.5gr of Alliant power pistol, and Magtech 77gr SCHP. Load resulted in ragged hole groups at 7 yards rested at 1547 fps avg velocity out of a 3.25" barrel. Cases showed no signs of bulgeing. Primers came out slightly flattened but no cratering.

Recoil was very fast but no were near that of a standard winchester target load.

What is the length of that bullet and what COL did you use? COL is critical to pressure in short straight and nearly straight cases.

Gah, knew I forgot something.

The bullets seem to average around .507" my COL is 1.070". They were 100% reliable in feed on my gun, and fit with room in the mag.

I read somewhere that 90gr 380 bullets, shot very accurately out of the 9mm.

You got yourself a barn burner load, right there See how they do at 25yrds, and let us know
