smith 4516 vs 4563/66

Looking at a 3rd gen smith 45, I like the 4" barrel but was wondering about the shorter barrel on the 4516. How's the recoil and accuracy?

re, 10/1/12

I have both the 4516 and the 4566tsw. Both are great guns. The 4516 is surprisingly very accurate, more than you'd expect from a short barreled gun. Recoil is pretty routine for a .45. The steel frame and slide keep the recoil down but do make it a bit heavier to carry than an alloy framed pistol. I like and shoot both guns quite a bit- about 9000 rounds through the 4566 so far and 5000 through the 4516. The 4566's main duty is that of a house gun, the 4516 gets carried. Good luck.
