Crimson trace Laser Variations?

i saw a demmo stand for a revolver laser from crimson trace at my gun store. It was really comfortable, and felt like a rubberized hogue type. The store wanted $369 so i ordered from impactguns for $169 shipped. The one that came to my house is the right model number, but its hard plastic (not rubberized), and slippery.

so, are there different build materials between demmo and actual, or different designs (revisions, or old vs. new model) for my SP101. What gives. I loved the grip of the demmo, and dislike the actual grip, as they are totally different.
