Euroarms vs. Pietta?
I am considering either a Euroarms New Model Navy .36 (1858 Remington) or a Pietta 1858 Rem. New Model Army Police .36 pistol. Both have a 6.5 inch barrell. Can anyone give me a solid opinion on which manufacturer has better quality? The Pietta is from Cabelas which offers a good product guarantee. The Euroarms is from a retailer with no product guarantee other than manufacturers. Due to this fact alone, I am leaning towards the Pietta. But I am appreciative of more advice.

Pietta's quality is on a par with Uberti. Euroarms quality is hit or miss.

Get the pietta from cabelas i just got one, 36 cal
58 remmy, very nice pistol, when you handle it it feels very strong, the only down side i find with it is the grips they are not a good fit,( well the one i got the grips do not fit well) but i can change them out if i want to. Shoots good with 22grns of 3f real black powder, same size as a 44 cal all in all its a good working pistol.

I have really been thinking about that .36 Remington from Cabela's too. It looks like a real good price. I'm thinking about two-toning it as well (polished steel frame, fire blue the cylinder and barrel, and while I'm at it, stripping off that polyurethane from the stock and giving it a hand-rubbed oil finish. Polyurethane in the 1860's? That's just WRONG!)

No experience with Euroarms, but I like my Pietta. Fit and finish are very good and the action was surprisingly smooth right out of the box.

There were a lot of compliments about all of the Euroarms revolvers when I asked about their quality on THR.
Someone mentioned that they're the only revolvers that have chamfered chamber mouths that swage the ball to size instead of shaving off a ring of lead. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=341783 |
