Fired or FL resized wilson trimmer gage, mine wont work.

OK so I admit i'm the thing thats not working here, but I dont know what im doing wrong. I read a comment that said "Buying the Full length resized brass case trimmer is useless if you already have the fired case trimmer gage for the wilson tirmmer because the FLs (Full lengths) fit into the NS(Neck Sized) Trimmer gauge. I bought the once fired gauge for the wilson trimmer, now. Brass that I full length resized fits into it nicely, almost as thought it was MEANT TO BE! And now, brass that I havnt resized at all...doesnt fit. Hmmmm, Do I need to neck size it THEN try to fit it in again? I dont know....help?

FL size your cases.

Neck sizing won't help, doing that only affects the neck.

Wilson will ream it to whatever you want send a fired case and the die but with the shipping to them and they charge for the shipping back it costs more than the die

Yes, I believe you should always resize before trimming. If you want to only neck size do it before you trim.

But, I meant does neck sizing set the neck back a little bit or no? I bought the FIRED CASE gauge thinking that it would fit my fired casings....but it only fits my FL resized casings...What? haha, I was thinking maybe they sent me the wrong die? I dont want to have a custom die made

but ill see how it works, ill neck size some fire formed casings and well see how it works out : D

You didnt say if this is a gas gun or bolt gun. Makes all the differance in the world.

Reloading for Gas guns is a compelely differant matter then reloading for bolt guns.

You need, besides trimming for lengh check the base to shoulder lenth. (Critical in a gas gun). I would recomend a Wilson Case lenth gage that besides measuring the case neck, measures the shoulder to the back of the case. Its simple to use. Just slide the case into the gage and see if it goes in all the way. It dont have to stick out much to screw up your reloads. Remember on gas guns the bolt is starting back before the bullet leaves the barrel. You still have pressure inside the case while the extractor is pulling on the rim, causing the case to stretch.

This dosnt happen with bolt guns but they should still be checked.
