4200 Elite vs VX1

Simple question, i have two scopes but only one will fit on the rifle, which would you choose and why?

Haha thats where it falls down you see, they both do...from what ive gathered the 4200 is a far better scope but i kinda like the leupy ive got on there. Just thought there might have been a definitive answer to this from some more experienced guys?

I have a 4200 elite on my .270. It's a fine scope. The only quibble I have is I would like a little better eye relief. If you've read any of the other threads here about scopes you'll find there's no definitive answer. Leupold true believers don't acknowledge any other scopes except maybe Zeiss and Swarovsky.

If you've got both scopes already why not just try both and pick the one you like best? By the way, what are the specs on the scopes. Are they comparable?

arkie2, Leupys a 3-9x40 while 4200 is 2.5-10x40. I actually prefer the leupolds clear picture and the non critical eye relief so prob best to buy another rifle to put the bushnell on...Ruger...7mm08...sounds about right...cheers mate

LOL! You sound like my wife. Got a new lamp in the bedroom so now she needs new furniture to go with it. I agree though. If you've got a scope laying around you definitely need to get some "furniture" for it.

IMO the 4200 series Bushnell are comparable to VX-II leupolds, although the VX-I is still a fine scope. It must be nice to have to choose between two nice options, either will last a lifetime.

Yeah it is nice actually. I picked up the bushnell for a great price, works out about $150us i think which was very cheap so happy about that. Ive also just found a mint mkll Ruger, s/s synthetic in 7mm08 to mount the new scope on...
Only thing is i have to sell another rifle to pay for it, looks like the sks is outta here
