Pyrodex pellets

Been reading some past threads, and it seems as if more than a few are unhappy with accuracy when using 777 pellets. Are Pyrodex pellets any better?

No pellet will give you the consistency you will get from loose powder (as long as you are consistent in your tamping pressure). Yes, they are more convenient. However, if you want accuracy use the loose stuff.

Not saying that pellets don't have their place but all my loads are with loose powder. Did hunt with pellets for a time but went back to loose, PDQ. My optimum hunting load, is 90-95 grains of FFF in my .50. By the way, this past weekend, I got my first look at the 150 sticks. WOW, I know I'm sticking with loose powder.

i use pyrodex 2 50gr pellets in my knight wolverine.
i use a saboted 300gr .44 bullet.
i can hit a paper plate 5 of 5 at 150m.

thats more than enough accuracy for me.

Thanks to all. In my TC my most accurate load is 92gr. of Pyrodex Select. 2" 3 shot group at 100yrds for 16 yrs in that gun. Just recieved a CVA Pro Magnum for Christmas and was thinking of trying the pellets. Looks like I'l have to work up load like I did for the TC, but will still give the pellets a try to satisfy my curiosity. Definately don't want to wound an animal.

Tried pellets many years ago out of a couple different rifles,went back to loose. Pahoo, my sentiments exactly on the sticks.

Have killed dozens of hogs using two Pyrodex pellets and the 240 grain .430 XTP bullet. IMO: The pellets are just as consistent as Pyrodex RS.

the 10 or so sabots (t/c cheap shot 240 gr. all lead bullet) i shot in my traditions inline with pyrodex pellets produced good groups at 50 yards. when i switched over to 777 pellets and kept shooting the same sabot. i had an 1.5"-2.5" group at 50-75-100 yards. clean up with the 777 pellets was easier than the pyrodex pellets and the loose pyrodex. i did shoot some the same sabots with 100 grains of ff loose hogdon rs pyrodex. accuracy was not as good as the pellets. group sizes were ranging anywhere from 2.5" at 50 yards to 6" at 100 yards. 75 and 100 yards the groups were a few inches low and a little left. almost outside a kill zone
