I need help identifying this rifle

So my best friends' father came across this rifle. He had no idea make model or caliber of this rifle. It seems to have some type of Asian writing on it. To me it looked like some type of SKS but I couldn't be sure. So that's why I would like to know if anyone out there knows. Thanks!

Look like a Chinese SKS carbine that some one took the bayonet off of and put in an after market stock I think. But I may be wrong about the stock because I have never seen that particular stock before .
Good carbines I shoot mine all the time. Good deer and hog gun. Cal 7.62x39 same round as the AK 47 but a much more accurate shooter in my opinion.
You can pick up a stock for it on the World Wide Net.

Chinese type 56 SKS. made in 1968. the bayonet has been removed and the lug ground off. the original stock has been replaced with a dragunov style aftermarket stock as many 90s import bubba'd SKS often were.

Good gun. Very good gun.

Thank goodness it hasn't been converted to removable mags. I recommend keeping the internal 10-round mag, or possibly converting to an expanded internal 20-round mag. I've really grown to like the stripper clip option, and those way cool Chinese and E German stripper clip ammo carriers are cheap and work like a charm.
