Standard group testing range
I think it is generally accepted to test loads from a center fire rifle at 100 yards for grouping accuracy. I think 25yds would be the "Standard" for handguns. Correct me if I'm wrong. How about .22's? I have a 10/22 and a Marlin 60 that I play with eventually.

Don't know for sure, but I recall reading somewhere that scopes intended to be mounted on .22s are corrected for parallax at 50 yards, so I'd go with that.

For center fire rifles I like the NRA 300 yard target. Anyone can slop them in at 200, beyond 300 you are testing the shooter not the gun (weather, wind and such).
For 22s I like the 50 meter ISU international out door targets.

Yes, 25 yards for hand guns, 50 yards/metres for rimfire .22's and 100 through 300 yards (depending on your targets you'll use after sighting in) is good enough.
Military ammo tested by arsenals is as follows: .45 ACP at 50 yards. .30 caliber M1 carbine at 100 yards. .30-06 and 7.62 NATO at 600 yards |

Thanks for the replies. My primary interest for this question is for testing guns and loads, not the shooter. If someone tells me his center fire rifle shoots a 1 in group, for example, I always assume it is done at 100 yards. At least that is what my load testing has always been done at.
