New Ruger 380 Pistol!! LC380
Ruger now has a new 380 pistol based on the LC9. Its called the LC380. Im sure many people will Poo Poo this new model, but I think it will sell to those who hate the LCP because of the way it recoils. I really like my LC9 and also like the 380 cartridge, but never liked my LCP. Nice to see more new models from Ruger. LCR 22 WMR, SR45 and LC380.

Interesting.
Basically, the LC9 done in .380. Probably not to difficult a conversion. I wonder if it uses the same magazines as the LC9.

I have the LCP,,,almost to small for my hands.......I like this!
But then again I would buy the 9mm instead of the 380 because of the size......

I don't get it either. I own a LCP and it can be a handful but if I were buying a larger, more comfortable gun, it would be a 9mm.
However, in a larger gun the .380 is going to have less recoil than a 9mm in the same frame so maybe they are hoping it finds a niche in the CCW market with people who are less than enthusiasts. Either way, I'm glad to see Ruger still branching out.

In the Ruger webpage for the LC380, Its billed as "our lightest recoiling personal protection pistol yet". I think it would be perfect for my recoil sensitive wife. She has limited strength in her hands. She hates my LCP and LC9, but shoots my Sig P238 well. Im concerned that in a crisis, she would forget to switch off the P238s safety. The LC380 eliminates that problem, by being DAO, safety off. I like the idea, and will pick one up as soon as I find one.

That was one I looked at if it will ever be available at my lgs.
Ended up buying sig p290 and love it. 9mm makes more sense to me in that size of gun.

This is probably meant to appeal to female and recoil shy shooters. The locked breach will mean the slide will be easy to operate and recoil will be insignificant compared to the 9mm thanks to the reduced power of the .380.
Not my cup of tea, as I dislike DAO trigger on these...reset is too long for my taste. |

Same money, same size and weight, less powerful and more expensive ammo... I dont see the point.

LC380, the gun for wimps that can't handle the 380 ACP in a gun perfectly sized for it I guess there are those that are so unfamiliar with shooting that even the light, but snappy recoil of the LCP is too much. Just don't get it either. I've fired LC9's, and have a bit smaller KAHR CM 9. To me neither of those are noticeably harder recoiling than my little Elsie. So if you are going to carry more bulk, why not get more punch?

I'm in the exact same boat as Weblance.
I have a Taurus TCP, didn't even suggest my wife try that. We got her the LC9 hoping it would work better for her. That was awful for her. She loves the way my P238 shoots. The LC380 may be the ticket for her because I want my P238 back. |

Other larger 380s are on the market (Sig P250 & P232, Beretta 84, Walther PK, Bersa's, Taurus, ect) so someone is buying them.
Regardless of what you think about Ruger, it is hard to deny most of what they come out with is profitable for them

Love my LCP, but I'd also like a mid-size 380 for my collection and this may be it. Or a CZ-83. A non-mouse 380 fits the gap before a 9mm that some new or recoil-averse shooters might like. I wish more women in my family would carry or at least not be scared of pistols, and models like this may help.

This new 380 sounds perfect for my wife and I will be getting her one as soon as I can order one.
I'd like to see anyone call my wife a wimp and walk away from it |

Not to derail the thread, but upon browsing Ruger's website, I found their new Commander 1911 more interesting.
