Where to go from here....

I have gotten back into reloading in the last few months after a 25 year hiatus, .45 ACP, .38/357, and .44 Magnum. Lately, I have had issues with the .45 and my loads, advice from members here have done much to iron out the problems, thank you all. a different problem seems to arise now. The sickness has hit, I now find myself wondering, " What if I loaded such and such with such and such powder?"

Especially with .38 loads I have been using bullseye and Unique, with 158 gr SWC and 148 gr. WC. I am pretty happy with the loads as far as accuracy in my S&W 686 with 8 1/2 inch barrel and Ruger GP100 with 6 inch barrel. Where do I go from here? I don't want to reinvent the wheel, I know others out there have their pet load. I need recommendations for other loads to try. Also, I need recommendations for a chronograph. I want to better quantify what I have been doing. I am looking for accuracy mainly, but also consistency. I am ready to move on out to about 75 yards for my next few shooting sessions, with the plan to start hunting with the S&W next deer season.

What advice and pet loads does anyone have for me to try? any other tips as I continue exploring this reloading stuff? BTW, loads for the .44 will also be appreciated, that gun is next in the journey.

Thanks in advance

David,

My (and many, many other people's) favorite .44 magnum load is 23.0g of Hogdgon 110 or Winchester 296 under a 240g Hornady XTP. Naturally, start with a lower charge weight in your gun and work up to this as it's pushing the middle-upper levels.

This is an excellent accuracy load AND an excellent hunting load.
