Training Recommendations in SF Bay Area?
I recently purchased my first handgun, a S&W 686P to use for home defense purposes. I'm looking for a recommendation on a quality instructor in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to safety and practice, I'd like to find someone who had a background in the type of training involved to prepare for a potential home defense scenario. Most local ranges have people teaching classes but I want to make the right decision. If you send a suggestion, please let me know a little about the persons background and why you recommend them. Any help would be appreciated.

By the way, I did check the training school list above and didn't see one in my area.

Bill Tidwell teaches the basic classes at Reeds and is very good. Louis Awerbuck also has some classes at Reeds (http://ezine.m1911.org/awerback.htm ).
Also, BayProfs (http://www.bayprofs.org/ ) teaches an excellent Basic Handgun class at Target Masters in Milpitas, and also teaches Personal Protection classes. |

Someone recommended Walt Marhsall and I've signed up for my first class with him. I'll keep you posted. Here's some info:
