diameter of 12 gauge slugs?
What is the normal diameter of a 12 gauge foster slug?
I have heard .5, .6, .65 and .7 which is the most common diameter for a foster slug?

The major diameter (at the rear of the slug) of a Foster loaded by Federal, Remington or Winchester runs between .724" and .729", with a couple of Winchesters the only ones I've measured as large as .729", and a single Federal the only one I measured at .724". Most are .726" - .727". I haven't measured any of Remington's new Sluggers, out for about 2 years now.
Fosters meant to be loaded in a shotcup vary from .670" to .690", depending on the mold and the casting alloy used. Those are handload slugs. DC |
