Factoring in Barrel Length: 22" versus 24"

Hello All,

As I begin my "deep dive" into reloading, I'm scouring this forum and other sites for information on ballistics for a .270. I found a good spreadsheet from Hodgdon, but the barrel length listed is 24". As I'm shooting a Browning Stalker with a barrel length of 22", I was wonder if there is a way to factor the difference. Is there a multiplier? Or do I need to find something specific to that barrel length?

The Lyman #47 manual says for a 2" change in barrel length the FPS change in the 2500 FPS range is 40 and 50 in the 3000 FPS range. Since all rifles shoot differently, aside from barrel length, you are always guessing unless you chronograph your loads. Elevation and temperature also change the equation as well.

In your quest for good shooting reloads, 2 inches of barrel will not be a factor. Don't worry about it.
