In my experience the HK USP and Beretta 92fs stand out. Both are very soft recoiling, accurate and operate smooth as silk. The fact is however, there are a lot of really good 9mm pistols out there.

Depends on the price range. I´ve shot quite a few guns.
Low price, out-of-the-box, the IWI Jericho 941. A CZ-clone with a very good trigger out of the box. After a few hundred rounds, it gets even better. Go with the full-steel version. Sold as "Baby Eagle" in the US. Medium price, STI Targetmaster. Soft recoil, somewhat slow slide travel (like the P210), 1911 grip angle fits most people. High end: Tie between the new Sig Sauer X-6 and the P210 Super Target in terms of accuracy and shootability, but to me personally, the X6 is the best handgun ever made due to the modular design. Change the slide, and you have an X-5. Add the X-Bridge and compensated barrel, you have the IPSC Open version. Note: My answer is purely from a competition point-of-view. |

Toss up between the Browning Hi Power and the HK P7 series...

A 'post' is one single entry by any given participant. You most likely meant that this THREAD should be illegal, but you pretty much said that your own addition to it should be made illegal. I believe the OP made it very open and easy for discussing by adding the "you've ever shot" tag in the meat of the opening post. I think many or most of us like to dream about the guns we MIGHT have one day, but this thread discusses the "best" that we've had the chance to actually take for a dance.

I truly like my Gen 4 Glock 17 of the 9's I have shot.
So of course, that's the answer.

You know, I'm really liking my Gen4 G17 as well. I don't like it better than my 226... it's certainly a contestant for second place, along with my USP 9.

+1 on the P226. My MK25 makes it ridiculously easy to fit whatever you're shooting at, even with the Wolf ammo I run through it.

Dan Wesson Pointman 9 - Excellent trigger , accurate , very comfortable to shoot rapid fire
Browning Hi Power - Ideal size , weight , and fit for me for a steel framed 9mm pistol....plus the fact it has been extremely reliable ! |

Absolute best? Pardini GT9 or Sig X6 Supermatch.
As anyone could infer from the thread, though, there's an uncountable number of excellent 9mm pistols. |

So far with experience from my personnel collection, past and present only 6 different make and model 9mm pistols, it would be the Sig P6. Just a joy to shoot. would qualify some other Sigs and Berrettas, but I enjoy mostly .40 up to shoot these days.

HK P7, Sig 210 are IMO two of the most accurate right out of the box

The Best 9MM pistol You've ever shot ? Best/j That question begs some qualifiers. Best at what? If accuracy, well to date my son's 1911 Rock Island, stock as is. 25 yards from the bench it groups Win White Box 1.25" for 8 shots. Trigger? Same pistol. Best looking? Browning Hi Power. Smooth d.a. & to s.a. mode; Beretta 92. I'm not a fan of d.a. first shot to s.a. following shots. I DO favor the H&K USP as it can be cocked & locked or unlocked for d.a. to s.a. mode. I've owned but one Springfield 9mm & it was a lemon, 2 trips back for "adjustments" no fix so down the road it went. If I could pcik only 1 9mm it would be a B.H.P. |

Two of my favorites are the Sig P210 and the H&K P7M8. The triggers are awesome and they are both very accurate. I am not crazy about the P210's European mag release or hammer bite, but the new P210 has addressed those issues. Time to get one of those! The H&K P7M8 gets pretty hot after a few dozen rounds, but other than that, its a great gun. I have yet to shoot Sig's X line of pistols.

However, I would give a shout-out to a new-to-market 9mm that I have not yet had the pleasure to try, but certainly would love to shoot: The 9mm chambered Springfield Range Officer. I have had numerous sessions of live fire with the .45cal version and the 9mm version is also an NM-prefix. I believe these are VERY good pistols and offer a lot of value at the price point.

There is no "best",,,
But my individual favorite is the CZ-75B.
It has more inherent accuracy than I can utilize,,, This particular gun has never jammed on me,,, It has the thinnest double-stack grip of any. And while this is even more subjective,,, I think it's lines are very pleasing to the eye. Beretta, Sig-Sauer, Browning, HK, and even Glock,,, They all make superb quality pistols. But having test fired a ton of pistols,,, The CZ was my favorite,,, So I bought one. It's my personal favorite. Aarond .

9 is one of my favorite calibers. A few years back I decided to liquidate the guns I no longer felt comfortable shooting and concentrate on modern, more reasonably priced guns.
As other's have said, "best" is pretty subjective. But if I had a favorite all round 9, it would be the X5 All Round -- though the others come in close behind. For personal defense it's the P226 and has been for nearly 30 years. If we're keeping score to see who picks up the lunch tab, either the X5 or the M&P. Heck, I'd even bet a burger with the Model B or HiPower. I did get to shoot a CZ75 TS the other day and that's another one I'll look to add to my favorites. Here are my current favorite 9's. Here's a few former favorites: |

tell you what, if the OP can find any form of consensus from this in which to make a decision, I will be very impressed.

My current is a SIG 226, just a great gun got lots or rounds through it won't win any beauty contests.
My second favorite and actually the best 9mm I have ever owned was a Steyr GB, in 1989. I eventually sold the gun because NJ gun laws forbid anything over 15 rounds and it held 18. I sold it off and went back to six guns for a long time. The GB was very reliable and super accurate, the barrel was attached ot the frame so it did not move during operation. I was getting 1" groups at 25 yards all days long off the bench. Which at the time for me was pretty damn good. Ed |
