Remington 870 Express vs. Remington 870 Police

Any difference between the two? Within days of picking up one or the other, kinda big price difference, but whats the difference in features? Any help or info is greatly appreciated.

The biggest differences are the forends,dimpled magazine tube,type of finish,trigger group.The Police has a LE forend which is short and allows for the clearance to mount a sidesaddle shell holder(express has field forend)
Police model has no dimples in the mag tube to prevent attaching a mag extension(Express model has dimples/except Home defense model which comes with extension)Police model has a parkerized finish as opposed to a black oxide(aka-blued)ala-express model.Last I heard the Police model has a aluminum or steel trigger group housing(trigger guard)the express has a synthetic trigger guard,but I don't see that as a issue in durability considering todays plastics like Glocks etc.If you like the differences of the Police over the Express get the Police it is cheaper in the long run.I bought the Express home defense model and had Wilson Combat do it up and my few goodies I put on sent my total investment in the gun to around 800.00

I have to admit though she is a beauty.Got the Trak-lock sights,OD armor tuff etc.

The Express Home Defense Model has:
A plastic trigger group.
The dimples in the mag tube and the new style magazine retention system.
A rougher finish inside and outside.
A rougher blue job.
A less polished bore.
A two piece barrel. (not 100% sure about this)
Hardwood or synthetic stock, with a sporting-length fore end.
An 18", cylinder bore barrel, with a bead sight.

The 870 Police has:
An aluminum trigger group.
The old style magazine retention system.
A much smoother finish inside and out.
A military-grade parkerized finish.
A polished bore.
A one piece barrel.
Walnut or synthetic stock, with a short police-length fore end.
Choices in different stocks, including Speed-feed, and others.
18" to 20" improved cylinder barrel, with a wide choice in sights, including rifle, ghost ring, and luminous.
Heavy-duty magazine spring.
Heavy-duty trigger-sear spring.

The Express is Remington's "Budget" gun designed to compete with the cheaper-to-make aluminum receiver-ed Mossberg and Winchester.

The Police is Remington's top-of-the-line Law Enforcement gun, made to a higher standard.

NOTE: Remington has announced that they have discontinued the Express locking safety button.

I don't know if I paid too much or got a good price but I was quoted the Express at $255 and the Police Magnum with Tritium rifle night sights for $460 which is the one I ended up getting.

I remember reading on this or another forum that the Express model is supposed to have a two-piece barrel. Fact or yet another internet rumour? Any Rem employee or dealer out there who can give up the real scoup?

Everything that I've read so far is right on, except, the 870PM #4899 is a blued model. (my favorite) Great choice by the way.
