Have you removed the shell plate to check the detents under it ?, there may
be something in the station 5 detent.

It's indexing fine. The retaining spring lifts the case in station 5

It's great that you've got a solution, but many LNL AP reloads seat/crimp in Station 5 so something is going on. I current seat and crimp in separate stations since l like the Lee FCD, but I have a Hornady combo die set up for 9mm and have run a number of rounds with that die in #5 without problem.

Why are you at station 5 to seat and crimp?
Station #1 Deprime and size Station #2 Charge and flare with powder through expander Station #3 Bullet Feeder Die (RCBS Lockout die if no bullet feeder) Station #4 Seater Die Station #5 Lee Factory Crimp Die I cut the zip spindle on the decapper to allow the powder measure to swing into station #2 |

1: size 2: bell case 3owder 4: powder cop 5: seat and crimp. Called hornady they said the said will have a light lean in station 5 and that station 5 is mainly crimping.

You really don't need a powder cop if you are loading 9mm - a decent LED strip light and you can easily see into the cases. I quit using the powder cop for the short wall pistol cases on mine.
If you really want to keep using it, look at what the poster above has with the powder through expander. It will save you a station and let you seat in Station 4 where it is designed to seat at. I'd also recommend a dedicated crimp die in #5, but that's just me. |

The spring in station 5 should not be a problem. When you raise the shell holder plate and the bullet begins to go into the die the case should push the spring back slightly and the round go into the die straight. I would say maybe try adjusting the pawls again. Make sure the bullet is straigh on the case when it goes into the die.

I have the same issue on stage 5 while loading .45 auto. I keep stage 4 open to visually check the powder loads as a safety check. I was able to overcome this by only seating the bullet enough above the max OAL then running the whole batch back through seating to the length I needed. It's not optimal but it allows me to keep an eye on everything between stages.
