Prairie Dog hunting in SD
I'm new to the forums, but I have read a few of the threads for hunting priaire dogs and have not seen any real concrete locations for hunting them. We are heading out to SD (Rapid City area) for vacation this summer and I'm looking for a location and guide on that side of the state. Only 2 of us are doing the hunting (14 year old son) and myself. Any suggestions you guys/gals may have would be much appreciated.
Thanks! |

I found this website and it seems to have a few options. http://www.ultimateprairiedoghunting...ota/directory/
I've also heard if you talk with the local feed stores and coops around the area you are headed you can usually find a farmer or two who will let you hunt. This might not be something that would work over the phone though. Good luck and I'm going on my first PD hunt this summer in SD and I can't wait. |

I don't know if they still do it, I'll have to get a map and find out.
BUT: Before I went to Alaska, (1973) I lived in Edgemont SD. When you got a map of the grass lands (Buffalo Gap National Grass lands) it had PD towns marked on the map. Also it had the ponds that had been stocked with fish marked. So you just had to pick your spot on public land and go shoot. I'm gonna have to get a BGNGL map and see if they still do it.
