1100 rem 410 from,2-1/2" to 3 "chamber

i have a 1100 rem in 410 with a 2-1/2 inch chamber and i would like to know if i can buy a 3" barrel or have the original barrel rechamered to 3 "? eastbank.

I really don't know. But just rechambering the barrel generally won't convert the gun to three inch. Chances are the reciever is made just for the 2 1/2 inch shell just for skeet shooting.

Hopefully someone will add their firsthand knowledge and give you a good firm answer.

This question has come up before in reference to larger guages. The answer has always been NO, as the receivers are not the same. Might want to contact the Remington and confirm. ....

Most of the older 1100's in 3", were labled as Magnums.

the reciever opening is alittle longer than 3" on the 410 and the opening on a 1187 3" mag is also alittle over 3". the 410 will take a unfired 3 " 410 shell and eject manuly. i will try that also with a fired 3" shell to see if it will clear the ejection port. i have a rem 870 410 in 3" and have a couple cases of 3" shells. and only a few boxs of 2.5 inch shells. eastbank.

It's not the ejection port size but rather the shell stops and feeding the 3 inch shells from the magazine.

the 410 1100 will take 3 shells into the magzine tube and will maunley feed and eject with out a hitch, i,m going to try a fired 3" case to see if it clears the ejection port. if it does i may borrow a 410,1100 3" barrel to fire it. i,m hoping just a barrel change or chamber lenthening can turn it into a more versital shotgun. by the way my 870, 410 ejection port is the same size as the 1100, 410 . eastbank.

I'm hoping you realize that firing a 3" shell in a gun chambered in 2 1/2" ....is not smart... !!! You didn't say you would do that ....but just so we're all talking about the same thing here ...its not a good idea !!

Remember the length of a shell ...is after its fired...so whether it will cycle an unfired shell is not the issue !

The issue ..is the length of the chamber....and as the shell fires / if it doesn't have room to open up properly ...the increased pressure might be significant !

Besides....since you have a gun chambered in 2 1/2" ....why not just shoot shells that are 2 1/2" ....if you reload / you have a lot of options ...but there is also a lot of commercial ammo available in .410 in 2 1/2" shells.

As far as I know, the only difference is the gas ports. Two 0.060" ports on a 2-3/4", and one 0.067" port on the 3". MAYBE the action sleeve is different. I know positively those are the only differences on the 12 and 20 gauges between 2-3/4" and 3" guns, but I cannot find my old parts list to confirm if there were two different action sleeves on the 410s. They quit making the Magnum action sleeves for 12s and 20s when the 11-87 came out. Current parts list shows only one sleeve for 28 and 410, and no mention of "Magnum". All parts, including the receivers, are identical on the Model 1100 12 and 20 gauge 2-3/4" and 3" guns except the barrel ports and the action sleeve, and I would think the 410s were the same, but it has been a long time since I have fooled with one. Never was much into 410s. I have measured and weighed a bunch of 12s and 20s over the years to be positive.
