A Tale Of A S&W 19-4 And Bass Pro Shops
I will sometimes stop by Bass Pro on my day off to see what they have in the way of rimfire ammo and while doing so will walk through the Fine Gun Room. Most everything in there is out of range for me but I like to look at the handguns anyway. I walked over to the case with the revolvers and there were two Dan Wessons, a Smith 686, a few engraved Colt SAA and another Smith perched upon its box. It was a blued model 19-4. Imagining the price I thought that it would be marked I said to myself, "This should be funny".
When I saw the price at $439.95 I had to do a double-take. I nearly tripped over myself going to ask the attendant if I could look at it. I did a quick once over and found that it locked up tight and was in really good condition, so, I said "I'll take it". At the checkout, I gave the cashier my Bass Pro credit card and she said that I would get a discount for using the card because it was the Fall Hunting Classic. Price is now $403.xx plus tax. She then saks if I have a Rewards Card. I told her that I did and she scanned the card and asked if I would like to use my rewards points. I told her that I would. Final price out the door for a S&W model 19-4 in the box.......wait for it........ $295.xx. It's funny, three of the best revolver deals I have ever had I picked up at Bass Pro Shops.

SWEET! I bought mine about 5 years ago while working part-time at Gander in Harrisburg. At that time it sold for $200. You got a great buy!

Congrats in scoring a nice looking revolver. I am a happy camper too. I just picked-up a S&W 10-5 from my FFL today.
You and I now share the same "Got-Cha" dates on our Smiths. |

That's not much more than I paid for my 19-4 when I bought it new in 1981. I think my receipt with tax and a "free" box of ammo was $234. What a great deal on a great looking gun.

That's one heck of a deal.
I've seen well used 19s sell for $500. Nice ones with box can fetch $600. |

Congrats on a great deal.
Had a similar deal at Cabelas. They had a mint Ruger 30 carbine pistol they wanted 499.00 for. I had a 25% discount card plus they had a 10% discount on all hand guns and with the points on my rewards card I was out the door for 265.00 including tax.

That's a terrific deal. I paid $470 for my 19-3 w/6" barrel last year and I thought I had done well. I'm envious.

They seem to be selling on Gunbroker pretty regularly for $500-$600. I like walking into a gun at about half of what it is worth.

Thats why it pays to keep looking. never know what you will find.
I thought I got a great deal for my 19-4 for $375 last summer. ( I did) But you sure cant find a deal if your not looking. Nice gun too. I would not sell mine for $500 I know that. Pawn shops are good places to find deals on revolvers right now. Every one want semi Autos so the revolvers sit for a while. I passed on mine 5 times at $475. After it was there 2 months. i asked you just collecting that or do you want to sell it? |

Great find and great price!
I am finding myself trying to make excuses to get a Model 19 and 28, but I already have a few S&W .357s. I need to start playing the lottery. |

Sweet deal on A fine revolver. We have A Gander mountain near by. I stop in about 3 times A week. A lot of their pricing is done by corporate. While their prices are usually high I have found several that are simply mispriced.
Found A Clark Custom Colt Commander With the box and papers that included the build sheet from Clark. Gun had $2,200. worth of custom work done on it. Bought it for $1200.. Wish Bass pro was closer to home.

Nice. Our Bass Pro doesn't have used guns. Just over priced new ones.

I wish my bass pro had deals like that but it seems like if it doesn't have a polymer frame they dont mess with it.
I also cannot stand the uber tactical gun shop commandos that perch behind the counter wanting to answer every question I never asked about firearms. I live close to the main store in Springfield Missouri. Glad you got such a good deal on the Smith. |

bledsoeG19, guess what. It was your Bass Pro that I bought the model 19 from. One of the three great revolver deals that I have got from the Fine Gun Room at that store.
