.40 S&W loads

I just ordered some S&S Castings 175 SWC and need some loads to try. An OAL would be helpful also.

4.2gr Red Dot runs mine nicely--I cast my own. I want to say OAL is 1.135 on those. Plenty snappy.

I shoot my own cast bullets also. I use the Lee 175 grain truncated cone microgroove 6-cavity mold. I can make a pile of bullets pretty quickly. I also run them through the Lee 401 sizer die for uniformity (highly recommended) and lube them with a modified Lee Liquid Alox lube. I seat them so the lip on the case is level with the top of the first pressure ring. That is about .008" shorter than what is called for in the manual but I found if I did not seat it flush to the case lip it served as a false shoulder and the gun would occassionally jamb. Seating them flush to the lip solved the feed problem. I shoot both HS-6 and AA#7 with this bullet and both powders work really well.

I'm running on a Lee tumble-lubed 175gr. SWC. 6-cav (5 normal with one cav I bored for a HP that drops about 160gr.). I run em all the same load smoothly. 180grTC, 175grSWC, and 160grHP.
