Jhart00 "I suggest the compact and get at least 1 full sized mag. It turns it into a full size grip for the range/HD/reload but still a good carry piece with the 12 round mag".

Ya the compact comes with one 10rd compact & one full size mag & they are 17rds.

Thanks for the great info. I am planning on trying one out soon. Any tips in what type of HD ammo it likes? Standard or +p?

mine handles everything I put in it. I carry black talons but you can't get them anymore. just about any JHP will feed through them but it's always important to test your carry ammo thoroughly before you start trusting your life to it.

Like some of the other posters, I use an SR9C daily for CC. At this point I have over 1200 rounds through it. No failures at all. The gun is accurate, has a good trigger and is comfortable to carry. I highly recommend it if it fits your hand and shoots well for you.

Mine reliably fed PDX-1 and Gold Dots, that was all I tested, in both 124 and 147gr.

I have had my SR9 for about a year and a half, and my SR9C for 10 months or so now. Absolutely 0 complaints about either one, both have good triggers, more accurate than I am, and neither have had a single malfunction in over 2000 rounds combined. Both of mine are the stainless/black two tone which I really like because I am an extremely heavy sweater, not a single problem with the finish on C which I carry daily. Can't say enough about how much I like my Rugers, and their customer service, should you ever have an issue is absolutely top notch.

Just switched to one for daily carry.

Seems to beat up my hand less than my S&W 9c.

I really like the safety provision, the loaded chamber indicator, the grip, the trigger, and the light recoil.

For your first gun, if it will be your only gun I think it is a great choice, changing magazine sizes gives you a different gun, I love it.

The SR9c is a very nice little pistol. The SR9 full-size was what I helped one of my friends pick for his first gun. It's at about 400 rounds and has been a solid, 100% reliable, well-built pistol. He now has it in a GunVault with 17+1 Winchester Ranger T-series 147-grains and trusts it to protect his family.

If CCW is only a "maybe" go with the SR9, it is still concealable but better for HD and range work. The compact is a great gun but what you want it for go with the full size.

What's wrong with a compact that carries a 17 round mag? I think the SR9c is a great carry gun. My edc only packs 8. I do have a SRc, but just won't give up my Sig for edc.
The Ruger is a great carry piece. There are very few compareable guns out there for price, reliability, accuracy, and capacity.
