.268" gas checked lead bullets
I have an old Arisaka 38. It key holes if I feed her with .264" bullets. With Carcano .268" bullets, she performs beautifully. Do you guys know whether I can find .268" gas checked lead bullets? Graf & Son has .268" blemished jacketed bullets for $27 per 100. Unblemished bullets will run $45 per 100. I'm hoping lead bullets can help lower the bullet bill. Thanks.

Nothing, so I'll try again.
Bullet diameter 0.267" to 0.268". Bullet weight around 150gr. Gas check preferred. Thanks in advance for info. -TL |

Lee Precision
Try Lee Precision. I believe they will make custom diameter moulds for a very reasonable fee. But you would probably get excellent results sizing down 277 bullets.

Thanks a lot for the info.
I'm not quite ready to cast bullets yet, so I will just keep buying them blemished bullets till they run out. After that I may start sizing down .277" bullets. I found CH makes bullet sizing dies. I will need to do 2 steps. Just curious. Say I start casting. Where do I find the .269" gas checks? -TL |

about gas checks
The gas checks are flared ever so slightly and barely over-size so that they can be easily positioned over the base of the bullets. They are then crimped and sized into place by the sizing die as the bullet is sized. 6.5mm gas checks should work perfectly. If they are too small, then, and only then, you could try 270 gas checks but I think you will get better results with the former. Remember, the 270 is actually .277 groove/bullet diameter.
