Midway shipping is Horrible!

Well, after paying the HUGE shipping fee to midway, 2 of my packages arrived today, with one box of 800 bullets opened, the outer container had a tear in the corner, and 1/2 of the bullets missing!! there were 5 boxes of bullets in one package, along with an auto-disk powder upgrade kit (which I haven't looked at yet). Bullets loose in the box, 1/2 not there, and I will be suprised if the kit is not damaged. I just sent them an email about this, so we will see what kind of customer service they have. What gets me is that the other package was good to go- thick box, insulated with foam, and taped well. The package that was busted had heavier items in it, they used those lightweight air pouches, and the box was one of those thin cardboard boxes!! What the heck were they thinking??? Paying a huge fee (which I did not like doing) and packaging it this way is unacceptable. I have a sick feeling in my stomach concerning the rest of the order, which has not arrived yet! Wonder what shape that will be in. I just hope they make this right with me. I have a feeling that I will be getting screwed. Have you ever had this from them?

Shipping costs and crummy packaging are the primary reasons Midway is dead last on my buy list. Next time try www.Grafs.com
I buy 90% of my stuff from Grafs. $4.95 shipping, not matter what you order.

I've had the same thing happen with Midway. Had bullets everywhere but fortunately they did not escape the outer packaging.

For balance, I have not had any problems w/ Midway over the last 4-5 years.

What kind of bullets (bulk lead or jacketed?) were the problem?

I have never had a problem with Midway. Grafs does not have the
inventory of non-reloading items that Midway has, not even close.
Midway's customer service has always been excellent when I have
had a problem. Hope it works out for you.

Just to check, you are flaming them and you don't even know how they will respond to your problem?

My experience in dealing with sellers is that you are far ahead to call them and talk with somebody in person. Their ability to deal with your problem will be quicker and if their initial offer isn't acceptable you can negotiate with the. It's a toll free number.

I have dealt with them for several years and had excellent service. Their selection is better than most and inventory is normally available. In the few instances were there was a problem, they quickly resolved it to my complete satisfaction.

Been buying from Midway for 30 years never a problem. I bought a tumbler back in the 70’s. They gave a lifetime guarantees on the Midway brand back then. It stopped after about 7 years of use. I thought the switch went bad so cut the cord and spliced it together. Motor was gone. I call Midway, told them what I had done and offered to pay for the cord if they would replace the motor. They gave me a new tumbler with no if’s ands or buts. Both of the Midway tumblers I have are still working and I’ll bet if one stops they’ll replace it.

I’ve received several hundred bullets in the last couple of years, along with others things and they’ve always been received in good shape. Perhaps your UPS guys are playing hoops with the packages.

in the last three or four weeks I have ordered items from Midsouth, Brownells, and Midway. I see no difference in Midways packing than the others. Just for the record I shop around before I purchase, and the only one I refuse to do business with is Cabella's and that is too long of a story to relate here. Suffice to say crappy customer service and a flawed back order system. I like Graf's but got to keep a eye on the prices, some things are cheaper others are more expensive.

Have had good luck personally with midway. Maybe hold off the double barrel salvo until you get their response, I'm very curios myself as I think that service after a problem is a much bigger barometer of a company's integrity then just total orders. Hope it goes quickly and easily for you.

Midway shipment

I just received a MTM ammo case damaged from Midway, it was packed with 500 .308 bullets and was broken by the weight of the box. I sent them an email and very quickly got a reply, and they shipped a new case the next day. Their packaging is less than desirable, but their customer service was great. I am very picky about pricing, and with Midway I cherry pick them and make sure it's the cheapest deal with their high shipping charges before ordering from them.

Yep, no sense flying off until you see how they take care of you. That being said I am always a little miffed when I get a package that isn't correct, or has been damaged(It could be the carriers fault sometimes, also).

I've shopped at midway twice in my life and both times they did okay. For me there are better choices for online buying, though.

I like grafs, powder valley, montana gold, optics planet, etc. Sometimes(most of the time) amazon beats midway all to heck. Depends what I am looking for.

I kinda left my opening rant open-ended, as to follow up with how it ends up.

They were closed (I am assuming, because it was dark here) when the package arrived, so couldn't call today.

There is no doubt that UPS throws the packaging around, we all know this, and knowing this a company should package things accordingly. One of the two that arrived today was packaged well.

I posted mainly to gain comfort from some of you who have dealt with them in hopes that their customer service is good.

Why did I post this before I found out how they will respond? I don't understand the mentality of packing 2-800count bullet boxes & 2-100 count bullet boxes with something as fragile as the auto-disk kit! I mean, I wouldn't do it.

The box that spilled out was a box of .45acp Rainier 230gr HP's--800count

yes, it did come to my house.

In my email I told them that I would contact them once the other package arrived. I don't feel like going through this twice (if the other package has issues), as the last package has the most in it.

For those of you who are married to them, I do hope your correct in your estimation that they will make this good, but I have in no way posted anything that is not accurate. At this point, I have simply posted concerning their packaging, and speaking to them wont change how that was done. It's kinda like getting a steak cooked wrong--they'll cook you another one, but it still is not the same as making it right in the first place. And this is not the first time I have ordered from them and didn't have this problem, but I have never ordered such weight at once from them.

Every company gets idiots working in the warehouse from time to time. I bought two Stetson hats from Cabela’s that arrived packaged well and in perfect condition. They were in a Stetson hat boxes that was packed inside shipping boxes. I purchased a third Stetson. It came “crushed” into a too small packing box. No Stetson box and the packing box was half the size of the hat. I wrote Cabela’s about it. Never heard a word from them. I steamed and blocked the hat myself and still wear it but needless to say I don’t order from Cabela’s anymore. All they needed to do to keep business was reply. I’m “positive” Midway would have replaced it if they had sold it.

You not only flamed Midway and now you flame anyone who has anything positive to say. I have purchased many...many things and I must say the World doesn't revolve around me like you desire it for you, I do believe they will do right. But then again I own a business and I would just as soon give your your money back and pay for return shipping than have a irate person who would rather attack than deal with problems.. I'll get off my soapbox.... now.

I wouldn't be so quick to blame Midway, it's more than likely the carrier's fault. From your post, it looks like they shipped UPS. I specifically ask shippers to use any method available other than UPS, after having many various problems with UPS shipping over the years.

I received a box from Midway that was torn, and some of the contents were missing. Also, part of the base on a tumbler was broken, they offered to exchange it for a new one, or just give me a partial refund. I opted for the partial refund. In the case of the missing items, they shipped out replacement items with no question, inspection, or delay. Midway I like, UPS I don't.

Not married to them, just pointed out that in my experience I don't see their packing is any different than Brownells, Midsouth, or Grafs. All of which I also do business with. They all use cardboard boxes, peanuts and plastic pillows

Like I said, there is no doubt that UPS plays football with packages. I too own a business, so I know this intimately, and make provision, but to be fair (and I know you all wont like this one) I have seen this with every carrier BUT...USPS. I shipped a guitar once, in a hard shell case, which when arrived to the customer the pick-ups had come out of the guitar and scratched the finish horribly. I did not quit shipping, I modified my packaging. I take newspaper now and pack the guitar inside the case to where it cannot move. I don't have the problems anymore.

Dr. Strangelove, those are the comments I was looking for. Hope I will be able to say the same when this is over.

I've been been purchasing items from Midwayusa for about 3 years now and I've never had a problem. They sent a friend of mine a item that he didn't order and they made it right. Told him to keep the item that they sent by mistake.

myself and many guys I shoot with and work with order from midway all the time for several years and have never had an issue. I will also vouch that there CS is top notch. Shipping damage is just one of those things we will all have to deal with at some point in time, it just happens. I personally think if you are htat concerned that you will get a lost faster resonce if you call them instead of waiting for an email and getting hotter over it. Please also dont be one of those people that get PO'ed at the first CS rep you talk to, it prolly aint there fault, every company employs at least a few that dont give a rats but about there job let alone some thing that belongs to others.

Great, another guy who believes the world revolves around him.
I hope karma lets you know your place in return for slagging the company that's done so damn much for the entire Pro2A movement before they even have a chance to offer you any customer service.

Your method of operation is Horrible!

Sevens- have you read the TFL rules for behavior since your join date of 2007? Name calling and references to slaps in the nether regions aren't exactly shining examples of good stewardship towards fellow shooters.

I've been called on one or two posts by the mods for what they deem as inappropriate or offensive- but I sure as heck did not resort to name calling and such. I hope the mods dont overlook the liberties you partook of.
