Pads for my vice

My very old steel vice has 4" jaws. I would like to get some sort of plastic pads for holding pistols barrels and other gun related stuff. Is there any advantage to those with magnets as opposed to those that are held on with carpet tape? I would like some specific recommendations. TIA

Over 20 years ago I bought the super-hold vise jaw pads and I couldn't be happier. I notched them so they stay in the vise and their grip is excellent. They look just like they did the day I bought them. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. They work for me, but your needs may be different.

There are some nice ready made options but I am cheap. Strips of oak, cut up old cutting boards etc serve the need for me at zero dollars.
