hi guys im looking for a new rifle. i am leaving to an ar15 but i really like the .308 round. my problem is i have about 700 to 800 to spend on this gun. this started making me lean to a saiga in 308 but i want to stay in the ar platform if possible or a g3 style rifle.. any other guns are welcome looking for suggestions

yeah, you aren't going to get a 308 AR for under $1k new even at bargain pricing. when i was looking, i did see some new DPMS 308's for around $1k. you might be able to find a used one at that price, but i doubt it.

Watch Gunbroker for a used DPMS LR-308. I see these go for around $900+/-. DPMS does take a few cost savings short cuts on the LR-308 but it's still a darn good shooting rifle. Not everyone wants to spend to money for a KAC or Noveske.

If you really want a 308 AR, just wait and save your $ until you get atleast $1000. Saiga's 308 are ok, but the 308 AR will be worth it in the long run.

Are you looking to shoot long distances with the .308? If not, an AR in 300Blackout might interest you.

Otherwise, just save a few hundred dollars more and get an AR10
