Nosler 6 Reloading Guide doesn't list that bullet for .40 S&W, and doesn't even list it for 10mm! Why would Nosler make the bullet and then not even list data for it in their own stinkin' book?!

(Not that I am very impressed with Nosler 6 anyway... and even less impressed with the handgun data side of it.)

Those $8 load manuals for the 10mm/.40, you know, the ones with the plastic comb binds sold at most of the larger sporting goods stores, have data for the 180s (and 170s, which they also stopped making, but doubt they'll re-introduce).

It only has 8 powders listed, Bullseye, Green Dot, #2, #5, #7, WST, WSF and HS7.

Very interesting artical Tomas. I have been looking for something like this for awhile. 10mm seems to be calling my name. Now I just have to start researching which 10mm to add to my collection!

I had a Glock 21 (45acp) some years 7 ago that I wanted to play with a bit. I found a 6" German steel slide and bought a 6" Jarvis barrel for it. It had a melted Bo-Mar rear sight and forward cocking serrations. It's a great toy.

After a couple of months I got to thinking about a 10mm conversion so I contacted Kevin at KKM barrels and asked him to make me a 45-10MM barrel for it. I tested and used the new 45acp's LCI extractor and G20 mags. It worked like a charm.

The world's first G20L a scant two minutes after I first put it together.

Now I had a pistol that shot both 45acp and 10mm.

A few years later I decided to jazz it up a bit to a USPSA Limited configuration and as part of my update, I did some internal work, added a magwell, and hardchromed the slide.

JR (owner of Lone Wolf) worked with me on the project and now offers a line of stainless steel slides and barrels in std length, tactical (5.5") and longslide (6.0") so anyone can duplicate my pistol for a fraction of what it cost me to develop it.

Recently, I got the itch again, so this time I ordered one of JR's 6" G24 slide/barrels (sans cutout cause I don't like the look) and when it came in two weeks ago, I mounted it up on my G22 frame and added Dawson sights to it.

Both are a ton of fun to shoot and now I have two custom Glock longslides covering 40s&w, 45acp, and 10mm.

BTW, My G20L configuration is my favorite woods gun. I just remove the magwell and with 17+1rds of 180grn hardcast ammo, it weighs less than a 6" S&W 686 packing only 6 rounds.

I reload for all my weapons and I've got two loads for my 10mm that really take advantage of the 6" barrel length. For blazing performance I like my 165grn Speer Gold Dot load that clocks 1,503fps (827lb/ft ME) on an 84° Colorado day at 6,100fp asl. For hunting I like my 180grn hardcast load that clocks 1,423fps (809lb/ft ME).

With it on my hip, I'm comfortable I can protect myself from anything walking the Rockies in CO.

my nosler number 4 manual shows loads for a 180 grn jhp for both the .40 and the 10mm, is this the same bullet your looking for? I think its the only type of jhp nosler makes for these cartridges.

CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond currently published maximums for this cartridge. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The Firing Line, nor the staff of TFL assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.

With a stock Glock20 barrel, I can only get up to 11 gr 800X before I get a case bulge.

With a Bar Sto after market barrel, I can get up to 15 gr 800X before I get a case bulge.

8.7 gr is the published data from IMR

Nosler e-mailed their load data to me today. Will post when my ten year old daughter gets home to show me how to attach to posts.
