I can not possibly imagine not calling the police in that situation.

1) You were in an accident. Call the police.

2) You were assaulted. Call the police.

3) You drew a gun on a human being. Call the police.

Otherwise, the police may get a phone call saying how you cut this poor man off and when he went up to your vehicle to innocently exchange information you pulled a gun on him.

Whose story do you want them to have FIRST?

Call the police.

and don't say one more WORD on the internet until you do!

The OP has sensibly deleted his post, which now makes this thread sort of meaningless (since many won't know what has happened.

A short summary: A situation occurred in which peetzakilla gave some advice (post #2) and the advice was taken. The OP deleted his post so as not to confuse/conflate any legal issues that may or may not occur.

At some point, it might be nice if Scoob comes back and tells us what occurred and the outcome, if and only if, all legal/civil processes are over and done with.

Folks, this is something we have discussed several times. Never make statements on the internet that may come back and bite you. Electrons are never lost!

With that in mind, I'm leaving this thread open, for a bit, to discuss just that issue, should anyone be inclined.

I think calling the police to report any potential "crime" is a wise thing to do.

Why wouldn't you do that?

Good job by peetzakilla to remind everyone on this. Never post/email/etc. anything which could come back and bite you at some future time. I tell this to all those I represent. Just wish they'd all listen.

I will post a followup hopefully within the next week.

Everything that was originally posted was told to the police.

Everything is OK.

I have heard this more than once

. . . from people well known to me, first hand stories of provocateurs who have made preemptive phone calls to police in order to appear like victims.

No sense in letting this open with no initial message.
