rcbs lockout die

How does it work? I just got one to use on my lnl ap. I have looked at it and cant see how it stops the press. Do you have to take it out until a piece of brass gets to the station its loaded in. I put it in the lnl and the press keeps on indexing with no brass in the machine. 20 years working on aircraft and 10 years as a engineer on radar systems I thought I could understand most mechanical devices but I dont see how it would stop a press Help I feel dumb.

The youtube video that IllinoisCoyoteHunter posted is very good at explaining how the RCBS lockout die works. I have been using the RCBS lockout die for over a year and highly recommend it. I would not load without one. If you have any questions after watching the video, I can probably answer them.

As far as "stopping" the press, once the lockout die is properly set up, it will keep the ram from going all the way up in the event of a no charge or double charge.

Here is a link to another youtube video which shows the lockout die working.

No video's, but I can say it works great. I have two of them as I don't like changing the plastic foot. Very easy to set up and every easy to use. Basically I don't load without one now!

I use one and they work great. I think it is some kind of VooDoo black magic dead chicken heads and sacrificial goat thing though.

In reality you have the rod and the outter ring in the die if your case pushes one and not the other they catch on eachother.
