What do you find at your range? - Page 2

I mostly shoot in my own yard but we have a range that I get to go too about once a month just to look for brass. Theres only about 5-10 shooters a week and use too everyone left their brass but now everyone (reloaders) go about every other day and its a race for the brass. Not hardly worth your time to drive 6 miles for maybe 50 9MM or 3 30-06 or something like that. But very rare you will hit the jackpot! Once last year I found 10 boxes of new Hornady 223 brass.

A few weeks ago I left for a short weekend trip. The way I took, brought me right along a public range. I decided I'd stop for a bit, not to shoot, but to see what the brass cans had. I found 20 new Hornady .223 casings and about 20 or 30 9mm. Worth the stop! I went back later that week to shoot, and I found three 9mm casings and a .30/30. I had the range to myself and spent the better part of an afternoon there. Another guy came just as I was leaving and saw him checking all the brass cans. Too bad I took all mine with me.

I have found 2 Arrow T-50 staplers in the last 2 years!
Those things are like the 1911 of the stapler world.

I have also found sunglasses, magazines (the type for firearms), clips, new targets and scope covers.

I volunteered to do the range mowing one summer, came away with six staplers people had left behind.....

.223 by the truckload.
9mm also by the truckload.
7.62x39 more than i'll ever need
.40 S&W nowhere near enough since everyone has switched to the .40 for IPSC
.45 ACP mostly non toxic small primer these days
.308 I have probably 500 rounds
.357 Magnum I have close to 400 rounds. Note to self buy a GP100.
6.8 SPC I have nearly 500 rounds. Need to buy an upper.
.50AE I have 25 rounds. If I ever reach 200 rounds I'll buy a gold tigerstripe Desert Eagle. (Fat chance of that happening).

.223/5.56 growing out of the ground. I picked up 300 cases in about 15 minutes today and about 300 last Sunday.

If it is a military range it is unlikely .223 shells. It is more likely military 5.5 and it is slightly different in specs than .223. It would be advisable to anyone hand loading 5.5 military shells for .223 rifles to check about the slight variations of both these cartridges. They are close but not identical.The difference can cause pressure problems in hunting rifles if .5.56 shells are loaded to max pressures for .223 rifles.
