Muzzle brake for DPMS LR-6.5
I am looking for a muzzle brake for my AR. I have the Precision Armament M-11 Severe Duty brake. It made the gun extremely loud. So I am just asking around to see what other people like to use for a muzzle brake...

any brake that actually controls muzzle rise and recoil is going to make it louder. the compromise would be a linear compensator that directs the noise forward and therefore is perceived quieter

Muzzle breaks ARE loud. They re-direct gases that normally go forward to the sides and rear.
Consider one of the KX3/flashcan types. These tend to direct the blast downrange after getting the benifit of tbe Break |

^^^ THIS!! I have a KX3 on my 16.5" .308 semi-auto and it does an amazing job. It replaced a muzzle brake and the rifle is now much more comfortable to shoot! No perceivable flash and the over pressure & felt recoil were noticeably reduced when using a variety of 7.62 NATO loads. Also, the small can attached to the muzzle looks a bit odd at first on a longer barrel (compared to an SBR) but I'm really liking it now.
