Also a huge fan of the .40 round. For me it would be a toss up between my glocks and HK's. I'll give the HK's a slight edge though because im a huge fan of the styled mag release and more accurate out of the box

I can't say I've shot many different guns in 40 S&W.
I own an M&P40 (my carry gun)–quite satisfied with it. I've shot an XD and Glock 23, and between the two, I prefer the XD more. I'd love to try a 1911 platform in 40S&W (like the Dan Wesson Single Stack Custom) or BHP or CZ75 style gun. I think the snappiness of the 40S&W round is tamed better by all metal guns, but that's just my opinion (and we know there is no shortage of opinions around here). |

I wish I could say I've fired a P7M10, but I can't.
Until then, my favorites are: SIG P229 GLOCK 23

Can't believe I am the only holder of a HK USP40c...IMO, that's the best of the best.
V1 Cocked and locked, or for those that wish, DA/SA. Incredibly accurate, and looks good to boot. 40 s&w is touch and go for me. Since i shoot and reload 10mm, it's hard for met to justify a 40. But, I do like the round, just never in the guns I have had, until now(which include) - S&W 4006(to many safeties) - Taurus PT-140(great gun, but dropped mags like a bad habit) - S&W M&P 40 full size(to many safeties, and a ridiculous take down) - G23 - G22(C.H.S. with either, which is strange because of the 15 Glocks I own/owned these were the only "problems") - G35, To big to carry, and the balance cutout, while awesome for practice, would let you go flash blind at night. - Sig 229 (too fat for their own good, and just can't get used to the manual of arm, on a Sig) - XD 40 fullsize. Decent trigger, and that is it. If i wanted a top heavy, busy looking, too many safety having gun, that would be my choice.

I love my CZ-40B. It has the lines of a colt commander, and the internals of a CZ-75...whats not to love I own three SIG's and the CZ will outshoot two of the three for 1/3 the price! When CDNN was selling them last year for $289, they were IMOHO the best deal on the market.

Make mine a Browning Hi Power. The all-steel construction dampens the snappy recoil of the .40 round.

ParaOrd p16.40 LDA. 1911 is a great platform to build a S&W40 on, especially one that has a double action type trigger. It is an outstanding weapon that someday I will own, only in the commander configuration (p15).
After that is the M&P 40 tied with Sig 229. I have not operated a XDm yet so that ranking may change.

Springfield Armory XD-40 4" service with Rainier 180gr plated hollow points over 7.5gr of Longshot powder, R-P brass and Federal SPP. OAL 1.125.
Good all general use round with power.

I'd have to go with the only one I own, Beretta 96. BikerRN said something about dropping in a .357sig barrel? That got the hamster running on the wheel, was he just talking about Glocks? Does someone make one for the Beretta 96?

PX4 STORM... great trigger, IMO its really well designed in terms of reducing the .40 recoil/muzzle flip, and its just plain fun to shoot.
my second favorite would definitely be the HK USP full size. |

P229 here as well (Just got SAS 2nd gen for me, love the dehorned profile). I also agree the ability to swap out for a .357 SIG barrel is a big plus and the P229 was designed around the .357 SIG, with no problem eating .40 S&W on the side while on a budget.

40 Fan
I've shot the Glock 22 for the past 10 years with the DOC and have liked it. Not a problem with accuracy or handling. I bought a Glock 27 for ccw carry and carry it always. For a larger gun to be carried in the colder months, I love my Sig P229. That's 12 rounds and I like an extra clip in my pocket. The ergonomics of that fine pistol are luxury. The decocker is nice and the gun just shoots perfectly. It's well balanced and and and(tear falls down my cheek)I 've never had a misfire, jam or anything go wrong with it. I've had two close calls on the street and it was very nice to have it there. It's almost an unfair advantage

Favorite 40
There always has to be one. My vote is the CZ75B SP-01 in .40. Tritium sights, non-slip grips, 15 rounds, Rail, IPSC compliant, ALL STEEL!! The down side....getting used to the 1st round being double action. 400 rounds of DA 1st rounds practice and you're good to go. For CCW the CZ75B P-06.

My favorite 40? The one still in the gun case.
But if I *had* to get one, it would be the CZ 75. |

+1 for the H&K USPc. Great gun. Lost it in a bitter breakup with ex-fiancee (don't ask). Probably explains why I'm not much of a .40 fan to this day......

I would also love to one day own a Dan Wesson Single Stack Custom in 40 S&W, but right now I do not have $1500.
