The BEST High Capacity clip for my Ruger 10/22

What is the BEST High Cap. clip for my ruger 10/22?
I've been told the "steel lips" are good, but I've only seen them in 25 round cap.
I'd like a 50 round!

I love plinking w/this thing

Any advice???

I didn't know 10/22s used "clips".

Anyways, the best high capacity magazines I ever used were my Ramlines. For being all plastic they sure do perform good and get this. They're older than me. I have two 30 rounders and a 50 rounder.

Butler Creek (?) had some metal lipped hi-caps that work very nicely.

All 3 Catalogs I'm looking at refer to them as "CLIPS" & "MAGAZINES!"

In fact your 50 round "Ramline" is call a "CLIP" in their catalog I'm looking at right now.

Thanks for the advice though. I was concerned about the all plastic holding up.

Yeah, I know they get called that in the catalogs. I just said that because calling magazine "clips" seems to bug a lot of people here at TFL. It's kind of funny I think. And yeah, the plastic is very good. Obviously high impact plastic.

The Ramline 50 round magazine i used split down the seem after loading it up a couple times. I want to find one of the tear-drop or drum 50 rounders to try out. try cheaperthandirt.com, or even ebay

Clips feed the mag. Mags feed the gun. Clips can feed the gun but only with an internal mag.

We've had problem with Ramline magazines. The front tab of our first Ramline actually snapped off in my 10/22, and in the replacement they sent us, the spring broke or something so it can't be loaded or unloaded.

The Promag drums apparently still have some problems, so it would be good to avoid those for now as well.

With what I've read over there, you can find some for a pretty penny by Tactical Innovations. Every person that has one seems to be happy so I'd have to say they are the "best". I have a Buttler Creek Steel Lip 25rnd magazine. After finding a plastic bur I had to shave off, it's been 100%. Biggest gripe for most people are 10/22 magazines that have colored (red,yellow or whatever else you can find now) plastic feed lips/ramps because most don't have the extractor on the magazine leaving the secondary extractor on your rifle to do the work.

I don't know why folks get annoyed at the clip-magazine confusion. You never hear them griping about the barrel-drum confusion, or the bolt-screw mistakes do ya?

The whole idea of using a language to communicate is pretty restrictive when you get right down to it.

Anyhow, my ramline 30 round magazines are circa 1994 (just BARELY preban) from Cabelas and have an uncounted number of rounds through them--mostly because counting is such hard work. So far, they still work fine.

I have a couple of the tac brand mags that darthted showed in his post. Mine are composite, but the aluminum ones would most likely hold up a little better over an extended time. As far as 50 rd mags, go with the single stack or teardrop or drum style. The 50rd double stack are only a pain in the rear and have only been jammomatics for me. As far as ramline, the preban mags are tops, but they must have foregot how to make a quality 10/22 mag during the ban. The hotlips and steel lips are great and I have several hot lips with over 2000rds each and a couple steel lips at the 5000rd mark. I just got a few eagle hi-cap mags from CDNN for 7.99 each and have not had any problems yet. Maybe some of the other TFL'ers can provide a long term report on eagle mags for the 10/22.

Stay away from those junky "Hot Lips" magazines. Of all the crappy hi-cap 10/22 mags out there, they are the crappiest I have run across.

The MWG magazines seem to be the nicest. I have used a few of them that my buddy Pete picked up at the last gunshow in his 10/22 and they are quite reliable.

Expensive, though...

It sounds like, & seems, that the clips with steel lips would be more durable than plastic. I just wonder if they make a 50 round one. I'm only seeing 25 in the steel lips.

Huh, I've been using my BC Hot Lips mags since '90 or '91 without any problems in all of my 10/22s. The Ramlines, Eagles, and other non-BC mags have never worked well for me.

I've seen some Shooter's ridge 25 round single stack mags at my local shop for 18 bucks. I may have to give them a try....

My ramline has been good for a hunk of plastic, and my hot lips mag is still being broken in, but it's pretty good when only loaded to 20 rounds.

I've had (3) "STEEL-lips" in my gun.. functioning perfectly. "HOT-lips" are cheaper(think both are butler creek)
