Mossberg vs. Stoeger Condor

I have a potential good deal (financially) lined up on a Mossberg 500 that seems like it would work well for a novice trap shooter like myself for about $200. It has the double bead sight, a few choke tubes, and it's new. Not to mention the feel seems good, at least in the store!

The other gun I ran into locally is a Stoeger Condor over/under at a local dealer. All he wants to do is make a sale so I'm not sure it would be a good gun for what I want (trap shooting) and it's the shorter of their two versions. Has anyone had any experience with these guns? Breaking it open seemed extremely difficult, and the clerk just suggested that after I buy it I basically take it apart and sand it down! Not a good thought for a new gun, but I suppose it would smooth out on its own after a few rounds.

I see few Mossbergs and fewer Stoegers at the ranges I frequent. Given a choice of only these two, I'd have to go with the Mossberg.

The big problem with inexpensive Doubles is longevity, and a trap gun gets shot more in a year than a field gun in a decade.

Mossbergs have a good warranty, and are made stateside. Stoeger imports the Condor (actually built by a company called IGA) from Brazil - not saying that's bad, but consider what happens if it needs service.

I have an IGA SxS, and it's OK, but I don't fire more than about a box of rounds a month, and with light 2 3/4" loads at that.

Thanks for the tips, kind of runs along what I've been hearing myself.

I guess my only hope is to find someone at the club who's willing to part with something which I could use. We shall see...
