Colt Python

Hi Guys,
I've been an avid reader of TFL for awhile now. I appreciate the candor here. Can someone help me ID my Python? Traded for it, looks unfired NIB but want to verify against owners manual date that came with it. Serial # is LA5XXX. Thanks a bunch!

LA5XXX is a 1980 vintage.

The LA prefix was only used that year and ran from LA0101 to LA9999

Thank you very much. I have had suspicions about the box because it doesn't have the end tag but is approx the right vintage. I'll investigate the paperwork a little further. It's a blued 8 In. bbl w/ original appearing grips. It has sharp silver highlights in the Raging Colt and lettering. Sound about right? I'm kind of new to the Pythons but couldn't resist it.
