Model 36: Range Report
This little thing can shoot. Ran about 50 rounds through it to get a feel for it, then I shot two groups at about 15 feet away to see if I could control it in double action at SD distances (see photos). The I just played and tested some really light reloads I had done. Ran 50 rounds through my GP100 too, so a good Saturday.
*added* I hate typing on my phone, gets too many typos. I was using 158gr Remington LRN loads and 158gr 3-D Remanufactured LSWC loads. The reloads I did were 158gr Lasercast LSWC over 3.1gr Hodgdon H38. I do need bigger grips on the gun, other than that I love it.

Try a T- grip makes fit you hand better and loose no concealment due to larger grips.

Glad you like the little 38 spl. Try a set of Pachmayr compac grips for the J-frame. Nice grips that will cover the backstrap and are good for carry use too.

I second the Pachmayr Compacs. My 640 has worn them for over twelve years. Not hard to conceal, fill the space a T-Grip would fill, and give a high hold that helps reduce muzzle flip with +P.

Already looking into the pachmayr compacts. I also received the holster I ordered, not a bad fit for a $30 leather holster.

With my 3" barrel Model 36, shooting DA, I could regularly shoot 1 1/2" to 2" groups at 7 yards, and keep all shots on the paper at 100 yards (with a lot of holdover!). Just because a gun is small doesn't mean it won't shoot!

Another vote for Pachmayr or Tyler T-grip. Either style makes shooting far more comfortable than bare factory stocks and each has its own personality.
The T-grip style is slightly more concealable and has a more traditional appearance. The Compacts give you a more hand-filling , more controllable grip when firing .357 or heavy .38 spl loads but are a bit bulky. I use T-grips on my J frame carry guns but use the Compacts on my 357 mag J frame; mod 60-14; better recoil control. Like them both. Good shooting!
