What kind of thoughtless, self centered person..............

Schedules a WEDDING for the next to last weekend of hunting season!!!???

Cold, crisp, beautiful day......and I'll be sitting in a church from 11-12 and then a reception till it's to late in the day to get to the woods.

They ain't gettin' much of a present!!!

Just a damn shame. I, on the other hand, scheduled my wedding exactly 1 week before achery season in Michigan.....it's also how I remember my anniversary.

Probably the type smart enough to schedule the wedding early in the day so that you can skip the reception and go hunt. Wait. That would mean they weren't thoughtless and self centered.

Notice they didn't schedule for the last weekend of hunting season? You should be thankful your friends cater so well to your needs.

I recall a wedding where I was the best man. During that evening's reception, the groom asked me and some of the other guys, what time we shoud get together, to go hunting tomorrow. I responded by asking the groom about his honey moon plans. .....

Sorry but can't print his response in this forum and sure enough, we went hunting the next day.

When my wife and I were planning a date for our wedding, she wanted it in October, to give us plenty of time to get everything organized and such.

I told her that was just a really bad idea...if she ever wanted me at home for our anniversary. Several hunting seasons start here in October, including duck, quail, deer, sometimes elk (if I can get a tag), and more.

September just wasn't much better with dove season the first half of the month, and the early trophy bull bow hunt for elk typically the last couple of weeks.

So naturally, she agreed to August.

Around here, there is almost always some kind of hunting season going on. The rest of the year is fishing season. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll call it off.

My kid brother's wedding was set for second weekend of the Washington Archery season and it worked out perfect for me. We spent the 1st week hunting in the Olympic Mountains. Of course I wasn't licensed so I carried the pack. It was my 1st time in any mountains and it was a wonderful time.
That was back when all the logging was suspended because of the spotted owl issue and all those cable machines were silent witch was a blessing for the hunters but i was left wondering until the ax men show aired.
Of course one episode was too much.

Weddings are predominately a woman's dream and obsession to show all her girl friends she caught a man....(ever see the women fighting over wedding dress clearance sales?) There is no rational thought process that factors in hunting season's practical purpose and putting food on the table.

I have managed to get out of a couple of weddings that were planned during deer season, but all three of my children were born during the week of season, 2 years apart. I tried to duck out, but Mrs. WBB said that since I had just as big a hand in conceiving them as she did, that I should probably be around for the birthing. I was held up for a couple of days, but being the wonderfully
beautiful, and intelligent woman that she is, she told me to go get a deer before the season was over, all three years. ( You guessed it-- she reads all my posts)
