Rossi Circuit Judge owners, please step in
I am considering the Circuit Judge in .410. If you don't approve of the concept and think that it's an answer to a question that noone has asked, please don't bother to respond. I'm not looking for a debate on whether this is a viable concept or a gimmick. I'm looking for folks who own one or have at least shot one. Please tell me of your experiences with them.
I currently have a 12 ga that I'm not real fond of. Maybe the fit is wrong, I don't know. But anyway, I don't like it. I think a .410 would be more to my liking. This would strictly be for HD and having some fun at the range. My wife would also be able to use this gun if necessary. The 12 ga would never happen for her. So being a .410 is a big plus. The revolver seems like a simple operation. No jamming. I also like fiber optics which it has. There is a synthetic stock model (SCJT4510) that I'm thinking about. So if you have one, let me know how it's been for you. Knowing what you know now, would you buy it again? Thanks for any input. |

So no one wants to post? I know that a few you have these. I've corresponded via private message with one member who is very pleased with his Circuit Judge.
Looking for more user input. |

I absolutely love mine. Only complaint is that it doesn't eject all 5 at once. But that can be fixed. It's an amazing little gun. I'm a bigger than most guy (6'5" 215 lbs) and still love it. Feels like it's apart of me when I hold it. It's light, accurate, practically recoiless, and quiet. I'm putting much thought into hunting with it this year.

WBW - go over to the Revolver part of the forum ...and you'll get more responses....
I have a Derringer...American Derringer I think it is ..6" barrel ...made in Texas...that I inherited from my Brother in Law....that is chambered in .45 Colt and .410 shotshell....but I don't consider it a shotgun / and more than a S&W model 29 in .44 mag that I can shoot .44 mag "shotshells" in ...or whatever they call those little "snake shot" pellet cartridges these days. I've fired a Judge and the Governor....and they're ok / as a novelty in my mind.../ nothing I want personally. I won't discuss the issue of a .410 for defense.../ but that is why a lot of us have no use for the Judge or the Governor....or at least why we haven't bought them. |

BigJimP This Circuit Judge is not a handgun. It's a rifle with 18.5 inch barrel. Here is link to Rossi's site with the particular gun: http://www.rossiusa.com/product-list.cfm?category=15

Not sure I mentioned it on our messages from earlier, but Federal makes 3 inch 000 and it's reasonably priced.

Thanks Klawman. Maybe I was wrong. Just seemed that he kept referencing handguns, so I thought that he thought that the Circuit Judge was a handgun.

It's a shotgun and a rifle in my book. Heck, the gun even comes with a plug to put in 2 cylinders so you can bird hunt with it legally.

It's no less a shotgun than the lever action .410s and 12 guages or bolt action 12 guages for that matter.

I imagine the pattern is less then ideal with that rifled barrel... something to think about

I'm certainly no expert, but I was considering it a shotgun because (A) it was a rifle, and (B) it it takes what I thought to be a shot shell (.410). But as I said, I'm fairly new to this game and by no means an authority.

I haven't shot birdshot out of mine too much, but at around 15 yards with 000 the pattern is around 3 inches.

i am no expert, either, but I believe the federal definition of a shotgun is "a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder, and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed shotgun shell to fire through a smooth bore either a number of ball shot or a single projectile for each single pull of the trigger." This is confusing since many smooth bore shot guns can be fitted with a rifled barrrel.
Going further, I think the reason the Circuit Judge is not considered a shotgun is its rifled barrel cannot be replaced with a smooth bore barrel. Read the warning at the Circuit Judge web page about how it is impossible to do as the parts are not available in the USA. |

It might be fun to bust some skeet with one but you'd have to plug 3 chambers to hunt with it

They are 5 shots, so just got to plug 2 chambers and mine came with a plug. and if you're deer hunting, you don't have to plug any. But why would you use .410 slugs when you can shoot .45s.

Shot my dads a couple weeks ago and I personally like it. With .45lc it would be a deer/hog slayer within 75yrds. That's only because that's how far we shot it. Recoil is very light for a 200 plus grain round. I like the concept just because it's outside the box from the norm.

The circuit judge is an extreamly capable home defense shotgun i recomend the 410/45 colt model so you can get the most effective use of the winchester pdx1 410 shot shells i have personally shot them from this model and a
t 25 yards the 4 metal disks only had a 2 inch spread in their grouping and the bbs paterned around it (admititdly tje bbs did not keep the grouping very well) but i dont think there is a home out there where you can make a 25 yard shot so that coupled with the fact that the double action means you can fire by just pulling the trigger makes it a rather formidible weapon in the home and is what i personally choose for mine |

I would feel pretty good standing behind one loaded with a cylinder full of 000 buckshot or PDX1. If they hold together in a pattern as well as the judge does, it would make a dangerous home invader into a dead home invader.
I would probably want a red dot on it. |

I fired a friend's and the patterns with the PDX were terrible. The BBs went all over the place and sometimes, but not always, one disk would be 6 inches or more away from the others. I wish Winchester would stick another disk in and forget the BBs. If I had one, and I plan on it, I'd load the Federal OOO. I think my kids will enjoy it.
As for HD, sure. If you have someone who can't use a 12, try the .410. I still have a Mossberg HD410 I use sometimes. A few Tuff Strips of Federal and I feel good about using it. |

Can't use less than a 20 gauge to hunt deer in some states.
