New German K98
So I did my usual scouting of the pawn shops this last weekend. I have seen this k98 mauser at the same shop the past couple of years but the price was way more than i wanted $340. This time around it was on sale and i had a coupon bringing the price to $200. The stock was broken off at the wrist area and glued back on. it was russian capture with markings still intact. the rifling is good but frosty with some pitting.
I have my pretty guns and my shooters. I bought it to have one. considering the cheapest i could find was about $330 plus shipping and transfer fee i feel like a didn't lose too much. let me know your thoughts!

Throw a new stock on it and you'll have a shooter, or use it as a sporter build if it's accurate.
Either way, sounds like a pretty good deal.

He can probably find one on ebay if he is patient, but make sure it comes with any hardware needed
The Boyd's ones are pretty, but they are not drop in. They need some work, and are a little oversize compared to the originals. There is some discussion and photos here, but you need to be signed in to see the pics: http://forums.gunboards.com/showthre...ighlight=boyds |

$200 for a Russian capture with a busted stock is nuts. You can find Yugo capture Mod98 in like new condition for that money.
$167 off Gunbroker. |
