1911 field strip
I am buying a 1911 45 and I see advertised for 1911's a wrench for the barrel bushing. My question is do you need to remove the bushing to field strip to clean, and if so which is a good one to buy. thanks

Yes, you need to remove the barrel bushing to field strip it. They make the wrench in metal or some sort of plastic or nylon or something. They are very useful and don't cost much.

You don't need the wrench unless you have a custom fit bushing.

The metal typ with the bump seem best to me, but 99% don't need any wrench.

Accurizing a 1911 involves a close fit of the barrel to the bushing and a tight fit of the bushing to the slide, tight enough that a wrench may be needed to remove the bushing. But a standard factory or GI pistol will not need a wrench to remove the bushing.
