Recently inherited an older M70 Looking to see if it's pre-64, etc.

Thanks for any links/info for finding out.

Labgrade, a pre-'64 Model 70 Winchester will have a serial number that falls somewhere in the range of 1-581471. In 1964 Winchester made a distinctive jump in numbers to start with 700000. If your Model 70 falls in the pre-'64 range you can visit http://www.oldguns.com/Winser.htm#Model 70 to find the specific year of manufacture. Hope this helps!

Thanks, Steve. Helped exactly. Not a pre-64 but hardly matters (kinda curious though). Was Dad's & that's enough.
