Left Handed 20 GA

I am looking for a left hand 20 GA semiauto shotgun but have not found any. Does anyone manufacture such an animal?

im a lefty as a leftie can be. and i some kinda bird hunt every year now for 30 yrs now and LORD seeing fit, a bunch more yrs.never had a issue shooting a regular gun (rightie) left handed.and hope you never have to sale any gun but a regular gun(rightie) will have a better market.

I don't know of any 20ga left handed guns.

Balistically, you can make a 12ga perform just like a 20 with 7/8 oz or 1 oz loads. I do that with my Benelli super sport - and regardless of what the manual says - my Benelli will cycle a round even down to 7/8 oz as long as its velocity is 1200 fps.

I'd recommend you try one of the Benelli's left handed models - preferably one with the comfort tech stock in left handed ( they make 3 models in left handed last I knew Super Black Eagle II with comfort tech / M2 Field with comfort tech and the Montifeltro - they will all handle 3" shells - the super black eagle will handle 3 1/2" ) although since you are trying to get it to perform like a 20ga balistically, you won't need to shoot any 3 1/2" shells thru it.

Its a common misconception that a 20ga has less recoil than a 12ga - but it isn't true - in fact, the heavier gun will have less recoil for the same load. So if you shot a 1 oz load in a 12ga or a 20ga at 1200 fps - the heavier gun will have less recoil. These days, if you reload its real easy to customize your shells for a new shooter, or buy reduced recoil shells - or different ounces of shot in shells over the counter - so its easy to make a 12ga be exactly like a 20ga - and with less recoil. I've even gone down to 3/4 oz of shot on some 12ga loads - making a 12ga like a 28ga as well. So one gun can do everything - but if you just want a 20ga gun that's different. But the only time you really need a 20ga gun vs a 12ga gun is if you are shooting in registered specific gague events ( but don't tell my wife - she'll think all of my 20ga, 28ga and .410's are 'surplus' ).....

Don't let anyone talk you out of buying a left handed gun.

I just looked at the CD website. The only thing I saw there for us lefties are all 12 ga. No 20's anywhere.

Might look for a Ithaca model 37 as they were bottom ejectors and very nice guns.

One of the major problems lefty's have shooting right handed semi's is all the junk from the action blowing up in their face. Shooting right handed you don't notice it because it outside your head and not dead center. My dad is a lefty and the last few rabbits he's shot with his 1187 20 ga, he said he was seeing flame and getting "dusted." So he went out and bought another BPS 20ga. and very shortly I'm going to own the 1187

moral of all that, good ideas for lefty's to wear glasses when shooting RH semis!

Its a good idea for " anyone " shooting a shotgun to wear some type of shooting or safety glasses..... right or left handed doesn't matter.

I shoot lefty and you best bet will probably be a mossberg 500. It feeds from the bottom and ejects to the right but it does not bother me shooting. It also has a top tang safety witch is important. Also browning used to make one that fed and ejected from the bottom and had a top tang safety I just cant seem to find one. If worse comes to worse buy a benelli nova and flip the safety. Good luck.

I'm a lefty too and shoot a Browning BPS pump. It has bottom feed and eject. I'm almost as fast as an auto with it. Remington's new 105cti loads and ejects out the bottom. I haven't seen one yet, but they look pricy.
