Can you over-tumble brass?

I almost left the tumbler on all night last night.

If I had, would there be any negative effects on the brass? Excess wear? Or would it just be 'real' clean.

I use corncob media with a Tbsp of car polish.

I Routinely Tumble Brass Overnight.

It won't hurt a thing but you may need to wear your shades when processing it afterwards.

I doubt you could ever over-polish brass.....
I leave mine tumbling overnight all the time, using 60/40% mix of walnut/corn with Frankford Arsenal (MidwayUsa) polish..... that brass comes out so damn clean, sometimes I feel bad about loading it and shooting, it looks so nice and purty!!!

I've worn the nickle plating off some and kept right on shooting them.

Hmmm, the fact that you wore the plating off makes me think you are accelerating the wear on those cases.

Maybe its a thing with "yes, the cases may wear faster, but you're still going to split necks after xx reloadings whether you tumble overnight or not."

Technically, the media cant hurt the brass because it's not as hard right? The only damage that might occur is from the pieces of brass smacking into each other over and over because they are equal in hardness. I'd been thinking about getting a tumbler so I've been thinking about these things lately.

Overnight? No problem.

I leave mine on overnight/while at work with real dirty brass.
(I have a Frankford Arsenal Tumbler)

Power is cheap here ($0.07/KWH) so I don't care.
