Idle curiousity more than anything else. I don't reload for the .380, but I'm looking at one of the Makarov pistols as a possible future buy. A $20.00 set of dies is not biggie, so it doesn't matter one way or the other.

Would it work I am not sure, Would I try it no way. The sizes are to far off.
I reload both those calibers and have die sets for both. I no that the 380 Cal will not fit in the 9MM die's. I have grabed a 380 case when reloading 9mm buy mistake and it crushed the case. Now I keep the 2 very separated and sealed and labled. The 380 and the 9x18 are differant sizes. You said 380 in one spot and 9x18 in another. Tony Z |

It won't work. The mouth of the case may be the same size, but the head of the .380 case is smaller. Plus the 9x19 is a tapered wall case and I believe the .380 is straight walled.

Thanks. Just wondered. If I do get another .380, I'll get the right dies.
tonyz, I thought they made the Makarov in both .380 and 9x18? I've handled one a few times, not sure what caliber it was since at the time I wasn't interested, just curious as to why people rave about them, and am looking for a .380 version if they offer one. |

Rae. The Makarov comes in both .380 and 9x18. You cannot load .380 ammo with 9MM luger dies. How do I know? I tried it once, just to see if it could be done.

I make the 380 vs 9mm brass sorting mistake a lot. The 9mm shell holder will usually not hold the 380 brass during the priming process.
