Titegroup recipe needed

I hsve been recently running across Titegroup in several gun stores, so I bought about 3 1lb jars of it. I tried it with 115gr 9mm and liked it (I had been using Bullseye). Now I have some 124 gr 9mm LRN's. Can somone suggest a recipe for 124gr 9mm LRN. I was using 4.0gr with the 115gr at 1.125 COL

I don't load with Titegroup. But it seems to be the powder Hogdon (or whoever produces for Hogdon) is producing instead of HP-38 (W231), so it may behoove me to get some and start working up loads.

Sierra has their jacketed data for 125's from 3.7g to 4.4g. Sierra is a good source for crossing over jacketed data for lead use because their load data usually covers a broad range. In this case, the 3.7g would likely be an excellent starting point for lead 124's. If it were me, that's how I'd play it.

I had never used it but had always used Bullseye or 231 but I got some because my LGS seems to have gotten quite a bit of it in

I don't shoot 9mm but I do load some and I once put together some Rainier plated 124 bullets over 4.0 grs of Titegroup for a guy to use in a BUG match and they performed very well for him. I think the recommendation you are getting for 3.7 grs with your lead 124s is indeed a good starting point.

I have been reloading since the early 1970's. I now have brass, bullets, primers and No Powder........ I did find a 8lb keg of Titegroup at the local Sportsman's Warehouse in Columbia and bought it. So am now looking forward to try it out and am optimistic that it will prove to be a good match to my components that I currently have. Being an old fart.... I have a number of vintage and current load manuals. Amazing how loads have changed over the years.... Looking forward to this new reloading venture using Titegroup.....

My last post (#2), I didn't have access to my Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook.

It has 124's/Titegroup running from 3.4g to 3.8g.

If I were you I would start at the low and work up for what ever pistol you are loading for. FYI I did this for my 4" Kimber and ended up with my best plinking load being 4.0 gr of Titegroup using X-Treme 124 RN. OAL of 1.135".

titegroup is a fantastic powder. I load my 125gr LRN with 3.8gr. jacketed 124-125 at 4.0

I have been using TiteGroup for many years....on 9mm, .40S&W, .45acp, .38 spl, .357 Mag and .44 Mag.....its a very good powder.

I'm using it right now in 115gr FMJ Montana Gold...9mm...at 4.6gr...its been a very good load. Published Min is 4.5 and max is 4.8 gr ...for this jacketed bullet.

All the recipes you are asking about are on the Hodgdon website.

Watch the Min and Max on your loads.....for many loads with TiteGroup they are only 0.3gr to 0.4gr apart.....so you do need to be careful with it.

Start around 3.5 in 9mm/124 gr and work up.

Titegroup works with a wide range of calibers. I've used it in
9mm, 40 S&W and 45 ACP for USPSA competition over the years.
Not my favorite powder for any--but it seems to be available when others
are not.

Burns hot, leaves an easily cleaned "soot" on the gun. Run it with
lubed cast bullets and your gun will smoke like a choo-choo train.

TiteGroup burns super hot. Your lead bullets will lay quite a smoke trail.

Here are some tests with different guns on Titegroup. Probably the best metering powder on the planet, and the best value for money probably too. Accurate, metering, little goes a long way, cheap. Good all around.

I prefer 3.8 grains in 124, as it shoots light. 3.6 and lower results in failure to eject, in some of my handguns.

My favorite pistol powder is VV N340, for 9 MM. It can do it all. High velocity, accurate, easy to meter, clean burning, its top tier.

Here is a lot more loads with Titegroup for you.

7 Yards, or the few down there at 20 yards. I would say that load that is 2" at 20 yards in an XD9 service pistol is pretty good. Real good. Titegroup is a top tier powder, the only thing that is better than it is VV N320 that is like it. And N320 is like the dodo bird. Its flown away....lol

I use it in 38, 9, and 40. Mostly with 9 now and using other powders for the 38 and 40 and 45. I use 4.0 grains with a Berry's or X-Treme 124 grain bullet. Very accurate powder. You will like it, a dream to work with. Seems like a can lasts forever. Does cause some serious smoke on the lead bullets though.

That's exactly what I have, Xtreme, 124gr. What OAL do you use

If your talking about the xtreme 125hr HP, my oal is 1.110. I haveny used there rounds yet because the HPs are about the same price, but prettier.
