A 560gr TC Maxi-Hunter over 100gr of Triple Seven 2F is a lot of fun to shoot, and gives about 1350 fps, and a lot of WHOMP! Thats a hunting load.
Sometimes just some 410gr mini and a 80gr, gives about the same fps. Triple Seven is a lot easier to clean up after than black powder.

Looks nice. You're ready to answer to Father Abraham's call (or fight off those Yankee Vandals).
I don't know why, but the 1861 and its hardware should be made of stainless steel.

That is stainless. Doesn't show up real bright in the pics. It is a satin finished stainless.

My Armi sport 1861 is just polished steel, never heard of a stainless one. Could be something new?

Watching the picture i can think it's an Euroarms, the Armisport have bright barrel, the satin finish is tipically of Euroarms production, also the wood working around the lock, the wood grain and the color make me think at EA.
Look at the rear tang of the trigger guard, my be there is a small mark. ciao Rusty |

All that is on the tang is a very small Made in Italy.

Other difference between euroarms and armisport is the barrel, armisport made the barrel making a forged upset were is machined the nipple bolt, and the breech is close by a threaded plug with the tang, euroarms made barrel in three pieces, the tang, the section with nipple , and the barrel, so with a carefully inspection you can see where the part are screwed, not easy to see because are machined toghether after screwing.
If the barrel doesn't show any proof mark or serial number may be this musket is "defarbed", you buy it new or used? ciao Rusty |

It has a serial and a proof mark on the left rear of the barrel.

Independence Day is coming, and with it, the annual Firing of the Relic. This year, I'll have somebody take pictures.
The first shot always gets the neighbors to scurry out to see who's attacking!
