What is your favorite shotgun?

I've been playing around with Winchester 1300 D ,I have no problem with speed,tactical ...

That sure does look very front-end heavy though.......where is the balance point?

I gave this a lot of thought. I'm more familiar with Remington shotguns than any other, so for hunting it's an 870 Wingmaster in 20 gauge. It's just a willing partner to dance with. Also, there's something about a pump that engages a shooter in a hunt, more so than semi-autos and O/U. Kinda like the same feeling with a O/U in a skeet court. For HD the 870 12 gauge gets the nod.

Sometimes I find this question easy to answer.
Somtimes, it's impossible!

It all depends on what I'm doing at the moment.

Right now, I'm shooting a lot of clay birds and my favorite two guns are an old Citori Skeet that got so loose I had it rebuilt and reblued. Even though it's tight again, shooting it is like putting on an old pair of slippers. It's a 20 ga.



When I want to shoot a 12 ga., I'm now shooting this Weatherby Orion D'Italia Gr. II. I know a lot of folks feel the gun isn't what it was when it was an SKB, not a Fausti--but the Fausti fits me perfectly now that I've put a recoil pad on it and I'm shooting it pretty well for gun I've only had for about a month. It's growing on me. I can usually tell which gun has become the current favorite by what shells seem to need reloading. I've spent much of this week loading 1 oz. loads for this gun.





Come fall, when my dog gets antsy to hunt (and I do, too), I suspect the favorites will be these CZ SXS guns. A 12 ga. Bobwhite and a 28 ga. Ringneck.



And if somebody should ever bust in my door, I have no doubt this Mossberg Persuader will most certainly be my favorite!

For most everything my Stevens 311 12ga. Loaded with a medium load of reddot and an even oz of whatever sized shot I need. Use it for everything except trap.
For trap I have my 870 wingmaster, use the same gun for HD but with it's 18'5" barrel and a heavy tube of OO.

I'd go with the Remington 870. With two of these in the family I have had a chance to see just how versatile and durable this gun is. I've never had any problems, and they can easily be used for both HD and hunting.

I love my Ithaca model 37.

I mostly use it for plinking or busting clays in the desert. Shotgun sports are a little expensive and my performance is so poor it doesn't seem worthwhile.

Ammo is just whatever.

Most of my shotgun use is for hunting upland birds, mostly grouse, woodcock and pheasants. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be a shotgun I purchased new in 1961: my twelve gauge Browning DoubleAuto. A very close second (and maybe first ) is my twenty gauge Merkel double.
For waterfowl hunting, my hands down vote is for my Browning BPS pump twelve gauge.
My pick for deer hunting with slugs is my twelve gauge Winchester Model 1300 pump with a Simmons 4X scope.
And for HD duty, at the ready stands my twelve gauge Benelli Nova pump, with an extended magazine and "ghost" sights.
Since I sold my trap gun (a Mauser Model 620), I guess I'll need to replace it if I ever rejoin my trap shooting league.

Without practice, your performance will stay that way as well.......Clay targets aren't anymore expensive than similar pursuits

For most things, the Model 12 I got for my 16th birthday. For classic upland, my grandfathers Flues model Ithaca double.

For steel, a Rem 870 Express (one of the early ones, all steel and wood)

And for HD, a chinese made coach gun. Short, handy, works, and if I should lose it to the evidence room for an extended period of time, I wouldn't cry...much.

Love my Remington Model 870 18" barrel. I like a nice noisy pump - if an intruder hears you chamber a round in this baby, he'll bug out before you have to worry about what ammo you're loading.
I use #4 buckshot for HD in the first three rounds (very deadly but won't go through many walls) and 00 buck for the last three rounds if things get serious.
