quick help with bolts on a stock
i am making a stock for a swiss k31 and am getting a little more than i can chew.
i was planing on using a 2 3/4" bolt for the front mounting bolt but this will get in the way of the trigger rod for my bullpup stock. can i shorten this bolt to a 1 3/4" and not compromise the integrity of the bolt or the wood in the stock. th original bolt is 1 5/8s or very close to that and is helped by the metal trigger guard i wasnt sure if i could get away with the new bolt being a tad shorter. the k31 is a 7.5X55 close to a .308 and the bolt is 6mm hardened bolt
