Tight Starline brass

I've been loading 45 Colt on a Lee Turret set-up. I'm using Starline brass and on the first load, the Federal LP primers often go in real hard. On the second and subsequent loads I don't experience the same problem because seating the primer the first time seems to help size the pockets.

Anyone have this trouble with Starline? Is there a brand with more consistent primer pocket sizing?

Hmmmmm, I too had some trouble with starline brass,
i tried rem and win primers, they were tight, i was
getting a little scared my hand seater would set them of

so i went to cci 350 large pistol primers and they worked
good in starline brass, and in rem bras and win brass.
I have never had one go of while seating, and i dont
think i would

I always find it helps to toss new Starline in the tumbler for a half hour or so before loading. Sizes and primes much easier.

I just loaded some starline a couple of days ago and noticed the same thing.
I use a hand priming tool and it felt like on some cases, the primer kind of snapped into place.
They all seated just fine but it was a little unnerving the way they went in--and the brass just seemed harder to load---sizing and priming --even expanding.
I never used it before and thought I would try it.
Maybe it will hold up alittle better than other brass, it sure seemed tough to me.
Overall length and flash holes were good.
It just seemed like real tough brass.

I think out of all the brass i have used, i think win is the
best so far, well for my 45 colt and 44 spl.

The next boxes I broke open were Remington and I got through all 200 rounds I loaded without a hitch. In fact, the primers went in real easy. I'm almost worried that those pockets will get looser for subsequent loads.

I found that to with remmington brass, a tad lose?
they go in real ezasy, a matter fact to ezasy.
I even give black hills brass a shot, they worked
ok, but i still think wincester brass has the edge
on the rest, just my op, and i have loaded millions
of wincester brass and aways had good luck with
them, heck i only load wincester now, why change

I just bought some Starline brass for my 41 magnum.

I read that the Starline brass is thicker than Rem. and Win.
and lasts longer.
