What if Taurus made a 10mm revolver?
If they did who would think about buying it?
Seen the new 405 and started thinking about the 10mm revolver. They are hard to find, I want a 610 but can not find one so if taurus made a 10 i would probably get one. |

No, but not because it's a Taurus. I'd rather have a 41mag revolver. I do love 10mm autos though.

No, I would not buy a 10MM revolver since .357 Mag and .44 Mags are available.
In addition, I would not buy a Taurus in anything. Yes, I have owned two. Jerry

You could always get a S&W Night Guard in 10mm.

Of course not. Don't you know that every Taurus ever made was created to self destruct causing injury to the owner? Just being anywhere near one causes cancer and infertility. And I have heard from a very close source that Taurus is actually owned by satan himself, and everytime someone buys one a baby dies.

I prefer rimmed cartridges in revolvers in this case as in most.
A PT1911 in 10MM though.........

I have a S&W 610 ( that I had the chambers deeped to also take 10 mm Magnum ) & also have a CZ clone ( Witness ) in 10 mm... I'd buy a Night Guard in 10 mm if they weren't so gosh darned expensive...
BTW... moon clips for those cartridges with no rims just might save the revolver as a "tactical" weapon My 610 shoots 40 S&W 10 mm & 10 mm Magnum all with moon clips, or the magnum with or without moon clips... very quick reloads using moon clips... faster than using a speed loader would I buy the Taurus ??? that would depend on how it was released... as a 6" barrel gun... then, no, as my 610 has a 6" barrel... as a 2" or 3" CCW gun... probably

I will throw my 2 cents in.
I have a 4" 610 as well as a 2.75" 310 Night Guard. If I had not jumped in the pond on the Night Guard, I would have probably ordered a 405. I have owned the 610 No Dash since they first came out in the early 1990's. I have fired way more 40 S&W ammo out of it than I have 10mm over the years. A few reasons to shoot 40 S&W in a 10mm are in order. One that does not really apply to me would be that 40 S&W loaded ammo is much easier to pick up at the local gun shop or Walmart than 10mm. Also cheaper. I reload almost everything that I shoot. If I were to round up all of my 10mm brass, I might have 1,000 pieces of brass. I have a full 5 gal bucket of just Nickel 40 S&W that I am using for my revolver reloading. I am also gaining 40 S&W brass at a much higher rate than I loose it, or throw it in the scrap brass bucket. I did not even mention how much Yellow Brass I have in 40 S&W. Next when shooting your 10mm Revolver, how often do you need to shoot 180 gr HP ammo going 1250 fps, vs pleasant to shoot plinking ammo? My guess is very seldom. My current 40 S&W Revolver load is a 140 Round Nose Lead bullet over a medium dose of Clays. It will kill an IDPA silhouette so dead that its almost unbelieveable. Side to side penetration from any angle. And pop cans, I doubt there is a pop can alive that can stand up to that load. I guess if you feel the urge to blow up a gallon milk jug full of water, the 135 gr 10mm Corbon at 1400 fps would be pretty spectacular at $1.50 a shot. I about forgot the 135 Corbon loading in a 40 S&W is rated at 1325 fps. I doubt any difference in spactacular would be noticed between the 40 S&W and 10mm. My point is the 405 should work just fine as a 40 S&W. I had already done a little thinking about the 405 before I stumbled into the 310NG. My plan was to work on the trigger, get the function to near perfect, chamfer the chambers, etc to make it into my idea of a super carry piece. A K frame size 40 S&W 2" snub for around $400 that loads with 5 shot moon clips is not a bad carry option at all. Now if I had a choice between a 405 in 10mm and one in 40 S&W, yes I would pick the 10mm. With that said it being a 40 S&W is not a show stopper at all. Bob |

I barely have faith in Taurus to make a working .22 revolver.
I really want a 617, but they are expensive. There have been a few times when I have thought "this is only 22 caliber, the pressure is not that high, the stress on the gun is not that high. Even if it's not the greatest quality, it should hold together shooting just .22LR." That thinking is out the window when we're talking about 10mm. I have zero faith that Taurus can make a 10mm revolver that will hold together. |

Being a Taurus would kill it for me. Taurus really means "binding cylinders".

I love my 610! I have only shot .40 cal with it (gotta love moon clips!)
I do have a bunch of 10mm rounds ready for it, but I havem't bothered. I already have a 686 and 629, I'll beat those two up with magnum rounds. Besides, the 10mm stuff isn't that easy to find and it isn't cheap like the .40 cal. I have been using the 610 for indoor PPC events. Very few revolvers in the first place, and most shoot either .22 or .38 Special. Shooting .40 cal with the 610 is far smoother than shooting if out of my Baretta 96FS. |

Mr. Bob Morrison, taurus ceo, states "You would be amazed at the number of firearm parts we make for custom gunsmiths and parts for other firearms companys. You would be surprised if I told you some of the companies we supply MIM parts to". Would be interesting to know which ones. What if they made parts for S&W or Ruger?

Why would they? The 10mm is ballistically very similar to .357 magnum, except that it sells poorly since it's a reloader's cartridge.
There doesn't really seem to be any advantage in doing so. |

I have two Taurus revolvers that I have had no problems with. I also have a lot of 10mm brass and bullets that I feed my semi auto with. I would consider purchasing a Taurus revolver in 10mm depending on the specs.

I wouldn't buy another Taurus revolver; been burned by that once already. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it is what it is.
I'd like a S&W 610 (more to shoot .40S&W than 10mm) but they are too expensive when I have so many other revolvers already. Maybe when my kid gets out of college (so I have money again) if I'm still employed I can get the S&W if I still want it.

No, because a revolver that big would be on the same frame as the 44 mag.

My brother has a S&W 310 NG N-frame, he loves it because it takes his 10mm semi shells.
